Don't blame those people losing their shit this early. This is a continuation of we had been through the last few windows. Really appreciate all the ITKs sharing, but until we see a 50m player holding our shirt, the moans will still continue, which IMO, is justified.
“What we have been through” LOL, you sound like we are Villa or West Ham FFS. You mean when we assembled one of the top squads in the freaking world, capable of beating Real Madrid over two legs? Jesus Christ the entitlement in here is bizarre.

I can explain but won't want to derail the thread further. You can PM me if you're interested to discuss more.

This part of Hercules post is interesting....

"I believe we will make 1 statement signing, in the region of 50m-packaged up to look more. "

Any idea what this means? Are we talking clauses that will never be met? Could we be doing the same thing with Toby to make it look like we're getting more for him than we are? Hence the €80m valuation?
Or it could include money still owed to us from a previous deal...

Wow...

Whilst I understand the disappointment some feel selling Toby, I am struggling with the notion that we should keep and the talk of strengthening a rival.

What we know, and valued info @Hercules shares...along wirh all the other good people that pass on ITK in good faith...

. United are the ONLY club still interested after learning our valuation regarding Alderweireld.

. Poch wants Alderweireld shifted.

. Alderweireld could be acquired for as little as £25 million next summer.

On this basis, what business model sees you write off £30 million ( say UTD offer £55m ) just to keep a player the manager no longer wants for one season. Club wouldn't last 5 minutes if we conducted ourselves in this manner on a regular basis.

You don't survive if you buy cheap and then sell cheap whilst all around you player values have increased dramatically.

I don't want us to strengthen a rival EVER, but again, UTD are the only club interested at the value we want.

Seriously messed up if people start thinking we can start missing out on £30 million left, right, and centre.

The inflated market will see us needing this money to purchase another top defender
( one hopes )

Leave it until next season and when he leaves, we will have to most probably spend half of net budget just to secure a replacement.

At which point, I'm thinking some will question why we don't have the wedge for this, or that player.

Poch wants Toby out and (probably) United offering incredible money = get it done. Martial would have been nice but not the end of the world if we can't get him. We managed just fine without Toby last season so he won't be a huge miss anyway and he won't make Utd less boring either. I'd even be happy to sign deLigt and loan him to Ajax for a season since we need a top drawer creative CM and Dier can drop into CB to make a space.

Nevertheless ~£70 million for a 29 year old, who has had more than his fair share of injuries is an incredible offer. Not many top clubs are going to be willing to spend that sort of money on him and are we really better off letting him go to Barca or the like for less than half of that?

We are always going to be financially savvy, that’s not an issue and if Pochettino is willing to let Toby go to Utd than let’s make it happen and get on with the rest of transfer dealings.

Still over £70m. Pretty good.

Let's not get too overhyped by the amount.
Hercules himself stated that he believed the figure to be lower.

Key for me is that if there is a decent offer on the table and Poch is happy for Toby to go to Man Utd, then I would rather not d*ck around. We could wait for the WC, but there is equal chance he plays poorly, gets an injury etc and we are stuck with a player who deson't want us and vice versa.

Martial is neither here nor there, I am sure we have many options in the attacking area and whilst I rate the kid, this is not our main area of concern going into the new season.

As for the argument of strengthening rivals etc... Poch wants to build a Team that can win the title, he clearly feels Toby to Man United does not hinder that/supplies funds to achieve it. It's the beginning of the Transfer Window, so for now I remain optimistic and have my toys securely fastened to inside of pram.

Yeah. Personally I want him gone if he's not in Pochmaestro's plans. I'd prefer for him to go abroad for a lower fee but anyhow, I think it's important that we get a suitable replacement.

I’m sure we have many attacking options too just like the summer we originally wanted martial and ended up with njie......

Disagree with this interpretation.

Player sales will likely be in the range of £125M-150M - there is no chance we are spending £250-300M this summer...

Hercules has previously stated that our net spend, this window, will be in the range £30m-£50m.

Well in ITK Update 6 Hercules said: "Now Poch has said it, I will unfold s bit more. We WILL exceed 150m spend, which relies not on sales, and a good amount of sales monies will be added. We want 3 priority signings in early, possibly four. Aside from manchester clubs, we are in the same market as the other top 4 clubs. "

Now, we all know things can, and will, change. It may be that the players we want, for whatever reason, may not sign and our spending may not reach the levels indicated. I chose to accept what Herc has said - with the usual large pinch of salt!

MODS, it might be an idea to put a "countdown clock" at the top of this thread, to remind people that the window doesn't close tomorrow at 9.00am.
No one has done any big business yet apart from Liverpool with Keita, yet we have already increased all the key players and management contracts.
There is a WC on in 3 days, patience is needed on here.
I know it been said before, but this window is very different for many reasons, some of which I can't put in here.
My favourite Spurs saying is " its the hope that kills you" well I'm not dieing this summer ( he says hopefully)

My thoughts on this.

Yes UTD did allow for a player to go the opposite way to Arsenal when securing Sanchez.

However, whilst Mikhitaryan was deemed surplus by Mourinho and didn't seem to ever produce at UTD, it is thought that regardless of Mourinho's thinking, the powers that be are worried that Martial has enough talent to come back and haunt them if sold to a rival.

They clearly didn't rate Mikhitaryan in the same bracket.
