i guess we knew but anyway
ali z : Toby his dad and his Agent have all played their cards badly, they would need to come crawling after agreeing a deal then moving goalposts more than once.

What chance of that happening? I assume it was them, not Toby, who moved the goal posts

Shame from a Spurs perspective it is a loss but seems like we will get silly money. While they may have played their cards badly an over the top contract at ManU is hardly a bad end result. Unless their goal was to stay at Spurs in which case... shame again.

Isn't Levy known for notoriously moving goalpost during negotiations.
You should think he could accept someone using his tactics against him only to come crawling back begging for the original deal?

Don't know much but surely Levy doesnt move goal posts internally? - i.e towards own staff or players. Doing it against other clubs though.. feels fucking good :D

ali z on alli: His and Eriksens deals done I here, others to follow no idea on annoucements.
Will be phased is all i know club in no rush to announce things, think they have a PR plan to build the noise if you like.
I'd have thought the best way to create positive headlines would have been all of Kane, Eriksen and Alli (plus any others who have reportedly agreed) being snapped together in one mega Poch-pose announcement. But I guess the club probably have some guys who know a bit more about PR than me, so...

I thought we had itk that the option was for 18 months after his year runs out so he has 2.5 years left on his contract effectively.
I missed that itk then, i read on transfermarket that the option was for 1more yr, but may be 18months then.

If he gets a big move to Utd he’s played it rather well hasn’t he? Second player in a row to throw a wobbly and get Manchester money.

I kind of think that if there is any offer even close to the figures suggested that Spurs would have to consider that carefully. Irrespective of whether Toby and his entourage came crawling back or not.

What if we accept their offer, Toby agrees salary etc, and then he fails the medical ?

Not if it was just a ploy to get more money out of Levy.

I'd think making the Dele and Eriksen announcements before the WC is up and running would make sense but I have no actual experience in the field!

Interesting angle. All the info so far has been how Toby’s team have screwed him over etc. The messaging is all that he’s played a losing hand.

But if he ends up in a Utd shirt on a nice shiny new 4 year contract, I wouldn’t exactly say he’s been punished for screwing us about.

It's sounded for a while like Toby's been advised badly - he seems to be very much a team player (making all the right noises on social media when he was out injured etc) but this little episode will have done his reputation no good at all. A nice statement might to be to get new representation and tell his dad to sod off out of his business.

Of all the people I'd want to avoid winding up and then have to go grovelling to... Levy has to be towards the top of that list. Right behind my mum, who would never tire of reminding me about it.
I may be wrong but his action on social media started to become more frequent just as we heard there were issues with his contract. It really does appear that he's been badly advised or made ill-judgements believing he was in a great position of strength. I don't understand why players son't wait until the season has finished or at least when they are playing week in week out and in very good form.

The only players we should be bowing down to are Eriksen and Kane, luckily neither seem to be so demanding and appear to be very level-headed.

I always thought it was also about concerns of how competitive we were going to be with Toby, whereas now we seem well placed everything was up in the air back in Oct. I guess those fears were allayed when he agreed though so the fact he went back on it must have been solely money motivated.

Maybe take it to the toby thread lads?
There is literally itk on the previous page talking about Toby and his contract. Not saying you’re right or wrong, but there will sometimes be crossover due to the nature of the itk posted.

Yes there was, but there is a player thread discussing this subject. If this discussion goes on to long a&c will simply lock the thread until he tidies it up and a couple hours on top. How many times do we need the thread locked before we learn?

well rumour has it Utd are to offer him the same £120 we originally offered him. he will then also have to up-route the family and fit into a new team

We also need to remember that Toby, his dad and his advisors also have previous when it comes to backing out of a verbal agreement. iirc they did the same with Southampton when we ended up getting him.

None of his behavior over a new deal with us really shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

As the fan based gets more pissed off about transfers it's good to have some positive pr pieces available
