At the end of each week, we need one of those closing scenes from US cop shows where they explain what just happened and why she murdered her stepson because he had an affair with the maid who was supposed to be walking the dog but it got fat and died.

Alternatively wheel out Ted Rogers and Dusty bin to explain why we failed to sign the speed boat or caravan and ended up with a Sisoko.

FWIW Guilleme Balague rubbished this transfer in Belfast last week, although things can change in football.

Have Real Madrid completely paid off his transfer fee as yet? A marquee signing does make some sense with regards to the new stadium and the growing global image of the club etc. but I personally think as much as I'd like to see it, I doubt this will happen.

If Lopategui is any type of manager, he'll be busting to see how good Bale is for himself.

My boss has a friend from school who works for Goldman Sachs who said that Bale has transferred €15 million into pounds. Could mean nothing but thought I'd post cos my excitement at the possibility he's coming home is unreal.

To protect your mate should not have put in company name! Houses somewhere in the budget mentioned being sought ?

Well surely we could wipe off whatever they owe us for him, if we sign him at a reduced fee?

I don't think he is going to learn anything new in a couple of weeks of training...

If he is any kind of negotiator, he already gave RM some sense of how he sees the club setting up next season...and what players (or types of players) he wants RM to bring in

It's been 5 years, and surely any fee was, at most, structured over the length of the initial contract - presumably 4 or 5 years?

I suppose it's possibly it was 6 payments of 14.5 million or whatever, so they still have one payment to go... but that seems unlikely.

Fuck knows, I'd imagine at the very least DL would have negotiated a decent sell-on %, which again would come off the (first refusal?) price.

We're all grasping wildly here tbf!

I will just caution - this could be the most expensive transfer in history - not in how much is paid, but in how little will ever be recouped. Its unlikely that we could ever sell Bale on - where would he go? And who would pay for him at 31-32?

So, we have to be prepared to eat the entire transfer fee - and it will still be a big fee. Certainly you would hope that a Bale deal raises the profile of the club - in terms of sponsorship money (and even TV money, we are last among the bog-6 in TV appearances...). But, I am pretty sure this will be the biggest transfer fee paid without being able to recover some/most of it later in a player's career.

Even Real Madrid are looking to recoup their investment...

In the words of Donald Chump “CHYYYYNA!”

If Grealish is coming, thats a very astute signing on many level. Potentially a better player than Barkley IMO, backing Eriksen in creativity. More importantly, we get a home grown player, that we desperately need for this season
