not sure if this has been posted but yakster, who may have a mate at the times sports desk, and who others claim BEN speaks through him, said:
spoke to my man about Werner
said that the deal was almost complete and Werner changed his mind . he said it was very close before and then deal died last minute due to him changing his mind
Bullet dodged then. He'd be homesick and out of his depth within months if not a shoe-in regular starter. We need players who move here for the opportunity, not looking over their shoulder and ruing thier decision.

If that is indeed the reasoning, then IMO, it's totally understandable with such a young player moving countries, away from family, etc. A real pity, nonetheless.

Shame about Werner but his decision proved well placed when he started the first game of the season at his club. I'm sure if he does decide to move in future we will be sounded out however.

Explains why N'Jie started to gather pace, pun intended.

Maybe he was at the Utd game after all then, or saw it on tv

Fair enough, but this might be quite difficult to take in a few years when he wins Deuchland the World Cup...

Werner probably realised if he waits a little while, he'll be able to do a lot better than us. Why leave your home at 19 if in a year or two one of the top German clubs will want you anyway?

Seems like we thought we'd agreed terms with both Werner and Martial then only for them to change their minds at the last minute. Disappointing but not much we can do when the players decide to stay at their current club. Watch some people say this all Levy's fault though. All the complaints about Levy dragging his heels and not getting in forward players until late in the window when it turns out we'd thought we'd agreed terms with forwards twice only for them to reject us.

Maybe he was advised that if he waits he would get a move to a better Club so that might have a bearing to.
Whatever the reason it looks like we have it sorted with njie coming in.

In time, yes, you'd expect someone bigger to come in but he's also 19, and a Stuttgart fan from Stuttgart. It's a big step to move and if he's not ready, it's better that Spurs (or anyone else) doesn't spend a fortune on him at this stage.

When Podolski moved from Koln to Bayern, he was going back to Cologne whenever he had time off. In the end, the fans raised 1m Euro to help bring him back.

Yes maybe your right as long as we have it covered which seems the case then fine, although Im not keen on the Hernandez rumours but I could see Levy moving in to take him on loan as it financially suits him, but we will see.
