It's funny how everyone is so worked up about dier when essentially he is our 3rd choice CB and 2nd choice DM.Is the weakest link in a 343 and doesn't even get in 4231.yes we'd most likely need 2 players to replace him but both these players would essentially be squad/bench players.

It's his leadership and influence that is important and what United are after.

Any way you look at it it'll be Utd taking a player we're not looking to move on, us getting weaker and them getting stronger.

It's funny how every time one of our players are linked with a move away they suddenly become the weakest link in the team. Dier is one of the most important players in our team.

Firmly believe that Poch would walk if he was sold without his blessing. Would be a massive sign of weakness to sell to a rival. Considering what they and others have paid for players this summer I'd seriously say it's gotta be 60m+ at LEAST

Just no to selling him regardless of what ranked CB/DM he is. Given age and potential (leadership too) it's a no brainer.

Also think he will become a better DM later on with experience. People forget how good he was 2 seasons ago.

Agree. For me Walker is the only expendable member of the preferred XI and that's only because we have another superb wing back at the club. Being third CB and third CM in our system means Dier will play virtually every game, he's obviously a leader both vocally and by example and seems like a very important dressing room influence (although the latter can be said of Walker as well). We should not consider any sort of offer for him.

My friend does work on houses right next to where Eric lives (couldn't for the life of me remember where that is, want to say Hampstead) and he's seen him a few times leaving his house and had pictures with him ect. Always tells me how he's happy to have a chat, and he takes the piss out of his dad who's a hammer, from what I hear I'd like to think he feels at home with us, but as we all know things can change.

So that you know, any stories posted in the RO (Read Only) should be given a title, any title you like, we can change that and contain the following, which you've all seen before

Who: A&C
When: 12th July
Where: SC

Then the ITK exactly as it was posted.

It takes two minutes, if you can be arsed. Not everything will get approved (generally only verified ITK with track records does) but the stuff that does make it through will at least help keep everyone informed.

As for the unverified ITK, well, that don't belong here at all wether in the RO or in this thread. Were it any other way we'd havre a million 'my mate told me' posts to deal with.

God i'm being helpful today, dunno what's up with me.

It must be the missus wanting to do Alan!

Not selling Dier is almost a important in my eyes as who we bring in. It sends a statement of we're a champions league team now so fuck off.

Also Dier for me epitomises the new core of young English talent of whom Pochettino has taken from relative anonymity to regular England starters. If we sell him, it just sends the wrong message imho

I'd love to keep Walker...The longer it goes, the more I hope.

In terms of player maybe yea we could sell dier and replace with Mawson and barkley and on paper that's not a bad exchange, BUT a succesfull team is made up or should be made up with a mix of talented playmakers and hard working leaders and it's easier to replace talent than a natural born leader as there's very few about

Think you may be right. Saw him up at Hampstead high road at a cash point a few weeks back. Didn't want to bother him about the whole transfer rumour talk.

I'd rather that the club refrains from publicly replying on any media reports linking our players away from us. Let the buying club have a false perception that there is a possibility that we may sell the subject player to them, until it gets too near to the closure of the TW and the buying club then ends up paying an overinflated price for a second choice player from another club.

That'll teach them or at least, I hope it does.

We should do this for all players that we want to keep and not only for Dier.
