Does the selling club and the player and his agent have any say in your ideal world ? They are all looking for the best possible deal for themselves and that will not come by doing a deal with us quickly.

IMO, if you offer a realistic deal in the first place then both player and club will not think there is better to be had elsewhere later on.

That's all well and good until you see other clubs doing business left, right and centre. Spurs take forever, year after year after year. I realise in stating that people will say 'but what about Wanyama? etc. [insert exception here] (who tried to come the previous summer btw). There's too many windows for the likes of us fans in which we are the slow out of the blocks and it affects the first couple of months of every season imho.

Edit: @Trix I appreciate you have tirelessly explained the reasons for this on a couple of occasions. Apologies.

Only really opinion I think, but if it helps to straighten the trajectory a little....

Ali Z (on Poch's brave' and signing players 'quickly'):
Of course he wants them done quickly BUT priority is getting players he wants not speed, he understands how we work and why.
Plus, we know Poch is even more picky than Levy. So I'd imagine it's not just that he understands but also that he buys into the pros and cons of our approach.

Well jimmy-jojo we’ve had an offer of a wagon wheel multipack and a spider with 7 legs and Brady’s old love eggs for your services from West Ham. I’m sure you’ll recognise that this is a realistic deal and there won’t be a better one later on.

If a player doesn’t fancy the destination or the role of Brady’s new love egg that’s pretty much game over.

Acting speedily for the players he wants is surely the best strategy?

The quality of player we want are not going to be available indefinitely until we finally get our act together. You have to act decisively or you will miss out.

It should not have taken this long to get someone like Grealish over the line, IMO.

I'm only passing it on - you don't have to neg rep the post.

FWIW, real life isn't like computer games - there are many other factors. It's not even a secret that Villa were hoping for investment to avoid having to sell Grealish so, yes - it does obviously take a while.

This thread is not going to turn into a 'which club is playing in China' thread. So we'll do without.
