Edwards is the best news of them all. We have to sell, but no ones interested in the players we want to sell. So unless we sell Lloris and/or Kane, be ready for exactly the same team plus wimmer.

Nah, there are always some desperate teams down the bottom of the table who will take any old shite with PL experience near deadline day as they get nervous (plus Sherwood will want some guys he "knows"). The problem is we may have not have time or have already missed our targets by then.

Why do you say that? The transfer window isn't even open yet - bit early to throw in the towel.

I think the deal can be done 100% between Clubs, and player etc, but its only ratified by the Premier League/governing bodies on July 1st.

So official acknowledgement comes on July 1st. Deals can be done before then though. That's my understanding at least.
Yup. It's contractual. It's a bit like buying a house. You agree to be bound once you exchange contracts, but the sale isn't finalised until completion.

Your overreactions are becoming quite the national embarrassment. Please stop.

Window doesn't have to be open to agree sales. But agree too early to say no one wants our players yet.

The way I see it is;

No matter which CM we sign this summer Bentaleb is most likely to be our best performer in this position next year. Therefore it is VITAL he signs his new contract ASAP! That being said I think he will!!

Regardless of the above situation, we need a new CM with the ability to be put under pressure and still find a forward pass. Also this player must be able to read the game defensively (much more important than the ability to make last ditch crunching tackles). This is why Morgan S, Kramer have to be front runners for this role (although both will be very hard to purchase!

Then we need forward players willing to press from the front AND make runs in behind their defence when we have the ball (rather than always wanting it to feet). This is Martial

Lastly, we need a more reliable back 4 in terms of personnel and consistency of performance. With walkers injuries it is important we sign an out and out RB. This is going to be Trippier. He also adds much needed crosses which will allow our front players to get into the box rather than one of them having to be the one to put the ball into the box!

After this if there is opportunities to sign Other young talents then great.

Oh and we have a lot of selling to do also!

Not that i want the Club to lose Bentaleb under any circumstances but his mindset would change (if reports about his contract are true) if we landed MS. I think this is possibly where the Clubs thoughts lie at present. He wouldn't have such a bargaining chip if this were the case.

Good news. I'd happily have a team of "underwhelming" names that know how to do what the manager wants. Look at Wales vs Belgium the other night. That Belgium side pisses all over the Welsh on paper but that's not what matters.

If we can also add a smattering of talent to the squad (Martial etc) and keep our best then we will have an excellent season I'm sure.

Any team is only as good as it's weakest link, and it certainly looks like Poch knows where he need's to strengthen and is aiming not only for players with natural ability but also for players with that ability that can be improved, honed and moulded into the team philosophy that is both hard working, adaptable (position wise) and has the right mindset.

The day of the Carlos-kick-a-ball is finished at Spurs, and that's not a bad thing given the money blown over the past few seasons.

Problem for me is the quality we buy also. We finished a lucky 5th this year and as we all know if the last day results had if gone the other way could have easily been 7th. What I hate is seeing Utd and Liverpool doing business early, especially the likes of Depay! Why oh why can we never do this. I heard somewhere that we weren't going to do that again this season, but from all I am hearing, we will. People will say we need to be prudent and get the right deal, but at what cost to the season. If we are really serious about 4th this year, we must do business early, and I am afraid that may not mean getting rock bottom price. Did Utd pay over the odds for Depay? Who knows, what I do know is come pre season training I can see a lot of the people we will be fighting for fourth having done a lot of their business and we will still be trying to "sell before we buy" missing our first targets and getting number 2, maybe even 3 - remember last year?

The Club knew way back when that Man Ure were interested, after that point was understood it wouldn't have mattered what we offered Depay was only going to one club.

Bit like Ings and Liverpool. Offered above the odds to get chance to talk but he was always destined for the Merseymutts.

Messi maradona hazard augero
Edwards is 165; Messi 170 and has insane speed, strength and dribbling ability for his size; Maradona I will give you but different era and current data suggests he'd be about 170-171 if he'd been born at roughly the same time as Edwards; Hazard and Aguero are 173.

The next.......... Modric?
The tallest of this bunch at 174.

I get what you're both saying, but all of these other names are faster than this kid, and have more of an edge to their game. I hope he keeps improving because he'll be very close to the shortest PL player on record if he makes it (and remains that height). It's a physical league and while I don't expect him to be finishing corners, there'll be days when he could be shut out of a contest if he needs to be making slow mazy runs to maintain possession.

A bigger body means a little more weight on his frame to break contact from close checking and make a run or win the ball.

Marcus Edwards is what? 15-16? Most kids grow at least a few centimetres more at that age so he could well end up at 170 something and he seems to have a fair bit of acceleration as well. It's too early to judge the physical attributes and talent a kid who's in the middle of his teen years.
