If there is any chance at all of Yanited selling Martial to us then it's going to have to look like they had absolutely no choice. Last year we still weren't their rivals (apparently) but this year the truth is there for all to see. If they want Toby, they're going to have to deal.

This isn't true though, we're open to selling him without getting AM it seems. United will get what they want, and we won't get what we want.

I know it's a hope but if Martial is our first choice then the best strategy is to play hardball re. Toby. It's a mutually beneficial deal in the case of a swap so it will happen. We have to be prepared to keep Toby though if we don't get what we want. Only in that case will we actually will get what we want.

If we sell them Toby in cash/separately they are then under no obligation to sell us Martial and I don't think they will.

I don't know why Cookiemonster is getting so much abuse (some of it, personal) for this post, especially when the scenario he's predicting is hardly beyond the realms of possibility: Hercules has already said that DL won't be paying the £70-80 million United will demand for Martial, and rightly or wrongly, I'm sure Levy wouldn't hesitate to sell Toby to the Mancs if they're stupid enough to pay the sort of money he'd demand. Would anyone be surprised if we fail to land Martial, and Alderweireld end up at United? I certainly wouldn't. So can't we all have a reasoned debate about that without resorting to name-calling and bully-boy tactics?
