I like Rossi but I'm with agr. Just think it's such a vast sum of money to spend. If we are scouring Europe there must be better value for money out there that represent less risk.

Mr Levy runs us like a business and rightly so. You can't just warrant spending that sort of money without the player being proven in league. Barca or any Spanish team could justify the fee as they are going to get almost guaranteed success due to Rossis performances over the past few seasons.

Same logic applies to Falcao.

Let clubs like city and Chelsea take these risks as they have so much money yet can affor the mistake. They will have more failures than successes with such signings. For us, 30million could be a huge lump of our budget for not just this season but those to come.

Let's be realistic guys, we are in no position financially to be taking such a chance when we have a new stadium being lined. Levy just won't do it. I'm sure we will be looking abroad but I doubt we will be paying more than 20million per striker.

Anybody who is dissappointed with the possibility of Adebayor is in for a pleasant surprise. I would be exceptionally confident with his addition that we would totally flourish as a side. A mobile target man is exactly what we need, a real goal threat upfront who will bring the best out of the team dynamic and specifically the likes of VDV operating in behind.

I would be extremely excited with the prospect of Adebayor, and although he can have cold streaks I believe good management and him feeling valued and operating as the number one striker could see a real consistency develop into his game.

Someone has to take the risk to get foreigners in. It's very much the same as getting youth in - they may be a risk, but a club of our stature can't get those players in at their peak so we have to get them in young or from another league at the moment.

The art lies in finding the flower just before it fully blooms - Barba, Modric etc. Are there any strikers who fit the bill - Leandro?

I agree that we should be taking risks. Especially on gifted foreigners. Just not one that would cost us £30m plus wages.

we have a long standing interest in him

last season we were the joint 8th best team in europe, if one of the other 7 or man city dont come in for him then we CAN sign him

we are 10 times as big as villareal & wage structures can be bent accordingly in all manner of ways!

call me what u wan but i will stand by my opinion thank you...tottenham hotspur could sign rossi imvho!

I think you have false delusions of grandeur; do you honestly think that players think to themselves 'well Tottenham Hotspur were the joint 8th best team in Europe last season; unless the top 7 come in for me, i'm going for them' - They care about the stature of playing for one of Europe's biggest clubs (United, Real, Madrid, the Milans, Barca, probably Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal in there too), they care about winning things and they care about the money - we can't offer any of those three things. Yes we seem to be on the up, but we are not a top tier club! Whilst i'd be delighted to see Rossi at Spurs, if you genuinely believe he's going to go from United to Villareal (a club around the stature of ours at the moment) and then to Spurs for the glory of playing in front of 36,000 fans at White Hart Lane, playing under Harry Redknapp, in a strike force with Peter Crouch, you're a little confused!

I think playing in a team with Messi, Xavi and Iniesta is probably more up his street!

I think the time to take risks is now....all the other top 5 teams are getting stronger, we face the possibility of losing modric and bale if we dont get top 4 again....if we take a risk and it backfires then oh well at least we gave it an actual go and lived up to our club motto...to dare is to do!! You dont win the wraffle if you dont buy a ticket!

So, what you are saying is playing for absolutely any other one of the 9 best teams in europe would be an incredible draw, but singling the one you happen to support out as being so goddam awful that they couldn't attract a moth if they set N17 alightEek

I love the way a certain cadre of posters have arrogated to themselves the right to claim their opinions are realistic and everyone else is delusional. I, for one, believe, it is possible to ahve a huge degree of optimism after (not before) a rational analsysis:roll:

I watch alot of ESPN and clive allen is normally a guest on between the lines and they had an interview with Harry and he mentioned this coming window he only wanted one striker and mentioned Rossi the one he wanted

He then went on to say Aguerro was never a goer and the rest were top class but wanted rossi the most, He did sound a bit pissed off, due to the fact, that at the start of the window rossi was available for £15mill and we waited and then villarreal wanted £35mill, seemed like a dig at levy imo, maybe thats the past mistake and the song reference to the yellow submarine

Problem with Cryptic clues they can mean anything if you look hard enough

I think Rossi is a far better player than Falcao.

Tough one. Both are hugely intelligent and have fantastic movement and finishing.

The call is that Rossi is much quicker, whereas Falcao is much better in the air and able to play as a lone forward.

Falcao just edges it for me.

Falcao also plays in a shit league where Benni McCarthy was a top scorer.

The dream ticket would be Adebayor, Falcao and Rossi I guess. A rich (and thinking) man's version of Crouch, Pav and Defoe.

Firstly you condescending clown, you've put words in my mouth; You know as well as I do that Spurs are not as big a draw as any of the clubs mentioned - that is not to say that they are not an attractive club to play at, but a top-bracket player wants to play a top-bracket club who will pay him big wages and we are not that!! Why in the blue hell would Rossi come to Spurs when there is a realistic chance that Barcelona would have him..?

And this rational analysis you're bleeting on about - I suppose you believe that Adie is the man to have taken that course; when he was asked why he believed Rossi would come in response to a load of reasons why he wouldn't he just stated he believed - whilst I admire his optimism, I can't help but believe he's a little naive and irrational!

Oh and if you "for one, believe, it is possible to have a huge degree of optimism" then who am I to argue - get off your pedastal!
