I say we will sign Ade and Leandro. Modric will go and Sahin will come as part of the deal. Then someone like Milos Krasic as cover on the wings.

It's just a matter of time imo.

Wouldn't it be fun to have a left-field one though. Like a Roberto Soldado or a Gaitan? :)

With JJ flying in the face of a lot of the other ITKs it's clear there's some big miss information being fed through somewhere... I'm listening to JJ and no one else for now, not saying the others don't have good info but somethings clearly getting lost somewhere at the moment... Maybe the misinformation being passed through is intentional. But somewhere somebody isn't being truthful perhaps for good reason... God knows. Fingers crossed we blag through August.

No, there's information coming from several different sources, most if not all of them at least two or three removes from 'the top table'. JJ just seems better situated than most.

I'm fucking stunned by the lack of movement.

SURELY, SURELY we know we need improvements and have done for YEARS. This is either our coaches still not knowing what we need or Levy being tight - which I understand, but after years of penny pinching with Redknapp I'd have thought he'd want to give the new guy as much of a chance as possible.

Akqa was suggesting earlier that the Moutinho deal is back on, and progressing.

I know some people think he's over-valued, but I suspect his value to AVB is way beyond that. Moutinho seems to fairly worship the ground he walks on, is prepared to leave a CL club to come and play for him and will be a supporter for him in the dressing room.

Also, it had been suggested that Levy had dropped interest in Moutinho due to price - how stubborn and strong-willed do we think AVb must be to get that deal back on again?:sneaky:

I had thought this as well. I think Levy would respect The Boas' stance rather than harry's 'if we get him, we get him' attitude. AVB looks like the kind of dude that don't business.

We need a 'boas' to keep levy on his toes, to push him, cajole him, fuckin get angry with him to bring the best out of him.

I think AVB will be an absolute mega-don for us, he's hungry, got attitude, got plans, wants and demands sucesss.... I don't think he's here to fuck about! : )

Not sure how anyone can predict signings by the 31st after saying they won't happen this week, I see how someone can know the will or won't be signings three or four days ahead but to know they will happen in three weeks means they must be agreed but clubs are holding on until a specific event happens otherwise. and more likely, it surely can only be hoping they will be done by 31st in which case jj is effectively saying no signings only interest.

Or maybe the clubs and/or players are actually asking far too much? Or perhaps the clubs are pissing us around in other ways? Or perhaps the agents are being arseholes?

They say it takes two to tango, but football transfers are like a bloody conga line!

This. I couldn't have expressed my expectations upon AVB arrival any better. Genuinely thought we'd splash the cash on the necessary reinforcements because of the drought towards the end of redknapp rein. I just want to know why we've only shipped out some deadwood and got 2 players in positions which weren't pressing matters.

I can only assume Levy is being unecessarily tight; can't wait for an itk roundup after the TW passes tbh so I can just know what was going on all summer behind the scenes.

i think the fact that we haven't panic bought anyone yet means levy has to have something up his sleeve. he doesn't strike me as the type to allow things to the wire without having a plan.

It's still a bit farcical. We've been penny pinching for the past four years, to give Villas-Boas the best chance possible we should go the extra mile to get targets. I'm not saying splash out £20m on a player worth £10m, but if it's a matter of a few million (which I'm aware sounds ridiculous when you write it down) I think we should accept it. I know it sets a bad precedent but we need AVB and the team to get off to the best start possible. The competition for top four this year is ridiculous, and we have needed a top tier striker for NEARLY FOUR YEARS. That's without the potential need for a new goalkeeper, a backup full back and of course, a replacement for Modric.

Of course, if the agents are asking far too much, then by all means look elsewhere. But if it's the case of a few million I'd be irritated if we didn't accept it - again, it sets a bad precedent but we need AVB to get off to the best start possible.

To make this seem more optimistic I'll say that I think Gylfi & Vertonghen are fantastic signings and Andre himself will be a stellar appointment. But he's working against enough as it is, he doesn't need anything more to try and overcome.
