Which is why we need to thin out the players that aren't going to get any game time.

might need to be more realistic on asking price for players like Chadli (if the papers are right with the fee we want)

Nothing changed with Mason. If we receive an acceptable offer he can go. Not being actively pushed, but far from a must keep. He like most of the others doesn't want to leave, so I doubt he will this time round. Will only get limited game time though, and even less if we can move others on. ;)
Oh for sure, I wouldn't argue with you on that. I just noticed, well it's in plain sight really, that Mason, as opposed to Carroll/Bentaleb, actually made the bench, has a more prestigious squad number and is in some capacity more in Pochettino's favour than the other two. Even if I don't care much for him, I think maybe he has the attitude needed to fill a bench/bits- and parts-role.

A far, far cry from the imagined dystopia of players wanting to flee at full speed under poch, when he fist came.

In reality, we're actually having to prize their fingers from the door frame to get them out.

How many other clubs have players who are not on huge wages, aware they are deemed expendable/not in long-term plans, yet dig their heels in, cover their ears, close their eyes and chant, "no"..."no"..."nope" ..."not going"..."I can't heeear you!!".

Townsend being a prime example - had to practically be hooked up to a toe truck and be dragged out of the place. Fingernail marks etched in the carpark concrete.

Speaks very loudly and clearly to the qualities of Poch.

Trix is talking about quantity not quality. As it stands our bench will always look weak, only Janssen, Vorm and Wanyama are anywhere near the quality of the first eleven players. We don't have anywhere near the strength in depth needed for a successful CL and PL campaign.
We're a Tilemans + Isco (unlikely, I know...I know) away from being sorted imo.

Don't think we're too far off. Need to shift some players asap though, like trix says.

:sneaky:

cheeky ITK there .. if others leave = Mason will get fewer chances to actually play

==> we are looking at a starting VdV type signing who will come in ahead of Mason in the pecking order, but only if we can shift a couple of current players

Yes that does seem to be what Trix implies.

Levy would probably accept it scaled over 2/3 years. Not an outrageous fee to go for in the current climate. Just look at Bolasie.

Should have stuck him clearly in the window at the start of the window though.

Add to that Mason and Carroll are both spurs and bleed lilly white. The absolute opposite to the other players we have called dead wood in the past. Hope if both don't go they have the opportunity to improve and take it. Still like both, all be it not in our best 11 still good to have in the squad.

For where we want to be we have to upgrade on both really. But yeah, they are loyal and love the club.

Its natural progression and im glad we have become ruthless. If Winks and Onomah (amongst others) have improved enough to move ahead of you then either fight and improve or move on. No one should have a pass card based on loyalty or geographic association if you want to improve the team

I'll stick up for him in that he has maintained from the very start that Mason isn't going anywhere. Hence the disagree I guess.

Just better than starting a cyclical argument again. My £1000 is still on the table for anyone who is confident he will leave.
