I think at this point if we are exploring an almost impossible loan for Moura then the chances of us signing anyone significant outright this window are slim to none. I know things can change quickly, but I really don't see anything happening at all. The market is impossible for us financially it would seem and ultimately 40 mil would take us a lot further in summer then it would now. This is a, all be it understandable, shame as I feel we could really benefit from a new attacking element.

On no planet is Lucas Moura worth 40 mil. If Malcom cost 10 more I would probably lean that way, I just feel like he has more trick in his bag. I do like Lucas as a possibility, but don't think he should be in the range of our record signing. If PSG are looking to offload still I would believe his true value is around what Serge cost.

Also, would be interesting that Lucas, Eriksen and Lamela would have been the most exciting young attacking trio in the world in the summer of 13 when they all moved.

Still all positive, either now or summer!(y)

What we need to understand, Poch knows the spend budget he has for purchases, and add to that, he knows the wage budget. I can assure you it is a very good one, without selling. Though Daniel loves to get that out to get the selling club to cave ino_O

If Poch wants a player that had a budget value of say 20m, and we find out it is 30m, the club will back him. However, he knows that an excess 10m has been knocked off his total budget. Daniel will ask his views if he still wants to deal, making him aware also of his budget, if Poch still wants, we will do the deal.

Hope that makes sense.
Perfect sense. Thanks

I hope this premier league tax catches the Woolwich wanderers out when negotiating a fee with PEA. For the numbers being mooted here for good but not great players it seems ridiculous they might get him for €60m.

If Bordeaux are quoting €50m for Malcolm, someone's radar is a bit off!

Cheers for the insight though @Trix and @Hercules very interesting

Problem is teams are willing to pay stupid money for what seems any targets we have. Then you have the silly deals like Sanchez and Van Dyk, all making January a ridiculous window.

Looks like JJ may have just poured a lot of cold water over any potential transfers for this month. (may have misinterpreted it though)

I think potential transfers & gossip affect the normal supporters brain & gives them an unrealistic hope & a chemical response that is a like dopamine or a mind expanding drug that takes logic out & introduces fantasy! Great fun but not really reality! #escape&beatsworking

For me doesn't pour cold water over it, just saying we as fans have unrealistic views of what might happen.

He's had a few follow up tweets saying doesn't mean we aren't doing anything, and that we still have targets we're after.

To me all this is pointing to that we're trying to do deals now but other teams are doing the typical January stuff of quoting ridiculous fees and just being difficult to deal with making things unlikely.

Someone asked if we were done and JJ replied not in the slightest

Guilty.

Just when I thought I'd step away JJ slipped some more dopamine into SCs bloodstream.

Seems it was just a general post about how fans get hooked during transfer season and get a bit carried away (he quoted some fans saying we should get Sanchez a few days back :ROFLMAO:). I do think we are guilty as fans of putting too much stock in transfers but its all because we want the best for our club.
