If Tevez will come because Poch is Argentinian why didn't he got to Southampton last year? I remain sceptical.

I'm really starting to feel like we are being left behind by our direct rivals now.

They are stealing a march on us.

I think a number of Pool fans probably felt this way last year when Suarez was banned for what seemed like forever, the new faces they were bringing in were Aspas and Kolo while we were picking up Soldado, Lamela and Paulinho--but look how that turned out.

I'm thoroughly convinced (and this recent World Cup only reinforces this thinking) that a manager with a vision like Poch is FAR more dangerous than any single transfer. Messi, as unbelievably incredible as he is, needs a near-perfectly managed team around him to achieve at the highest level (see Yesterday).

I'm as excited as anyone else on here for a signing here or there, but we had a new team shipped in last summer and still I find myself more excited for this upcoming season than I was at the start of last season.

Could the issue over selling Dawson and Siggy be down to the fact that both are homegrown...

We're not too bad on our 17 foreign players if we move on the likes of BAE, Falque and Khumalo.

Davies and Schneiderlin, if we sign them, would also be homegrown. Others like Fryers and Townsend are probably of age now too.

I still think it's the Moreno injury that has ended any Dawson sale.

I think Rooney may sign for Newcastle because Alan Pardew is English... Yeah the logic of the media doesn't really work

That was always gonna happen as we can't compete with the cash being bastarded about on players at hugely overblown prices and poch won't want to just start mercilessly gouging until he's had a good look.

What we will be doing is developing something with an extremely solid core that will see us through the next 3-5 years - and a new stadium - in very good shape imo.

Even though we won't get CL this year (imo) I'm super positive about where we're heading. This season will be defining for us, not by our position but by what we will have absorbed into our playing culture and mentality come the end of it.

At the end of next summer's transfer window I'd be surprised if there are any glaring weaknesses in the squad.

We should all be positive.

I wouldn't be surprised if we have enquired about Tevez or have spoken to some agents to find out his situation. His a great player and has that mentality that I think the team has missed since Parker and Co have left. Whether we will sign him is a different matter and I would guess we have put feelers out on a few players to start drafting possibilities (belgium kid etc). It allows us to pit agents (and clubs) against eachother which Levy loves because it sometimes brings down prices and bingo we get one of our targets!

so tevez looks to be our silly season rumor this time around.... who else is looking forward to next week when we're depressingly (yet more realistically) linked to the likes of Ricky van wolfswinkel and Jordan Rhodes and the inevitable meltdown that will follow?

No way is Tevez going to go from 150k+ a week to 70k just because we have an Argentine manager, as much chance as Rooney giving up 200k a week to go play for an English manager at Hull Tigers, nationality dont mean shit

JJ will kill this rumour off in no time

He wouldn't though.

He took a paycut to go to Juve. I don't think he's on 150k to start with. We CAN afford a wage that would bring him here. The key point is interest, fee, and the player himself, not his wages.
