Isn't there a middle ground between signing nobody at all and a swaggering fancy Dan?
Absolutely. My post was merely a suggestion of why people aren't concerned and then goes on to say youth or Prem experience "if anything".

All the ITK points towards Poch wanting to bring in new players, so he obviously doesn't have as much faith in our current crop as a number of SC members.
This was my question before - does it?

I honestly don't understand the desperation for a new right back. If we didn't already have Trippier and were about to buy him to replace KW we'd all be wetting ourselves to get him in!

Probably because under Poch we rotate fall backs regularly. There was never any concern when it was Walker and Trippier. It's now Trippier and a young kid whose barely played a first team game.

I mean I did say "sign someone to improve the squad." We have some great youth prospects coming through which is positive, but there are still weaknesses in our squad, and it's highly unlikely that Onomah, Edwards and KWP are going to be the difference between us finishing 2nd and 1st.

All the ITK points towards Poch wanting to bring in new players, so he obviously doesn't have as much faith in our current crop as a number of SC members.

Danny Rose also recently said that senior players like to see quality additions to show that there is ambition at the club.

People need to think back to the CL group stage last season. Our squad was exposed as lacking in sufficient quality to juggle PL & CL.

I wouldn't be comfortable rotating Trippier and KWP for PL & CL.

The ITK from Poch himself does, he's has openly stated we need to improve our squad for this season....So far we haven't done that. Walker has had a thinly veiled dig at wanting to win trophies and you can bet he won't be the only one with itchy feet if. There's still plenty of time left in the window so let's see what develops...

But Dier plays right back and Kyle Walker-Peters is a lot more than "some young kid who's barely played a first team game". I'm not saying we don't need another experienced right back, I just think we're far from desperate.

Every squad needs new faces, even if they are squad players. After last season's performance by our team it would be sacrilege if we did not bring in at least one new face. if Poch wants Barkley lets go and get him now, not in 6 weeks time. It feels that signing new players is left to chance. If they are still available in the last few days of August we will try to get them. If it doesn't happen we make do but that's not how it should be done imo

How? What game time has he had to show otherwise.

Well KW may be disappointed. Clubs are not going to go win Doubles and Trebles domestically anymore there is too many financial super powers over here and too few trophies to win. And again in Europe, with Barca, Madrid, Atletico, Juve and Bayern who can compete with the British sides for players and European titles I think he may be overestimating Citys ability.

They didn't win anything last year, Utd and Arsenal won a trophy each who were considerably worse performing than City were.

Where would Dier be if we took that attitude to up and coming youngsters?
Missing the point. There is plenty of cover in the positions he plays. Walkers-Peters could be a complete disaster in the premiership or he could be another Ali. As a team going for the title next season I'm not sure we should take that risk.
