Some has, but then he's the obvious name. Others have been saying for a long time that Poch doesn't fancy him anymore (the rocking the applecart ITK was more than a month ago and others like Hertyid have been balls out that we have no interest)

We'll be back in for him, never you worry. If we went in that strongly in August, the interest will still be there.
Don't now if we'll be able to get Pearce to blink though...

We didn't go back in for Moutinho, Schneiderlin or Leandro etc. 6 months after they collapsed on deadline day.

Things move on - our needs are quite different now.

If it was going to happen it would have happened on 1 January (like when we signed Paul Robinson after his transfer collapse the window before)

Exactly. We supposed bid 30 mill for moutinho last day of summer window then bought Holtby for 1
Mill in Jan. Does make you wonder if we were going to ever pay it, same as Berahino

I gave one yesterday :) We have this month and next month covered now. By the end of the window we'd normally like to have up to May covered as March-May are typically very slow months. Towards that end, we'll have one last big push towards the end of the window when the action hots up ;-)

Greetings. Well, it's quiet in here so making very first post to urge you (yes, you fellow long-time lurkers - I see you hiding behind the SC bike sheds) to hit that donate button and keep this magnificent site afloat. Stick a couple of quid in, set up a monthly payment. It's easy. I've just done it, it takes 5 minutes. With its highs, lows, predictable meltdowns, moments of comedy gold, and even occasional ITK (remember that?), this place wins the internet every day. Worth every penny and more. Keep up the work @Rob and the team. COYS.

It's very rare that transfers happen on the first day of the window unless there is a pre-contract agreement, a lot of transfers are concluded on deadline day because they tend to work in tandem with other players moving. Money starts to become available and teams, players and agents start to get desperate to see if they can do any last minute business, why do you think clubs are are mostly active on the last day of the transfer window.

As far as our situation is concerned we still are yet to see what will happen with Townsend and Fazio, if we sell them providing we have time in the window that means we have money to strengthen the squad so I wouldn't be so quick to rule anything out just yet.

Not in January though. 90% of all transfer now happen in the last 2 weeks of August. January is just about moving a few bits of deadwood down the leagues, or exploiting a short contract like Holtby or Dembele

But of the supposed 10% in January, clubs are still trying to do deals on the last day which was my point.

Not in recent years. Winter deadline day has been flatter than Keira Knightley. The BBC don't even cover it anymore and even Sky are struggling to whore it.
