Positive on McCarthy.

Providing its not left to deadline day...you can just imagine Jim White and co, and Gary whatever you call him standing outside the training center - going on all day about whether they can spot Lennon or McCarthy.

And then it all ends in tears.

If we really want him, I'd expect to hear proper rumblings of us attempting to get negotiations going very soon.

Praying we don't leave it late with all our eggs in the one basket again - so fed up with that strategy.
Come on man, we haven't done anything but outs on DD for ages now.
Lessons have been learnt :)

It was only recently that he said that it was his dream to one day play for spurs as it was his favourite club as a boy. He used to have a poster of Nicola Berti on his wall and jose diminguez pyjamas.

Back in 2007 I sent a drunken e-mail to Damien Comolli recommending 2 players that I had watched in the U-20 World Cup. One of them was a Polish LB called Artur Marciniak who has since scraped a living in the Polish domestic leagues. The other was a 16 year old Eden Hazard.

I did get a nice e-mail back from his secretary which i'm sure was the stock reply to nutters .

I've never contacted the club before or since and am happy to put up my 50% success rate against any Spurs manager past, present or future :pompous:.

Great to see positive ITK from Jasper and JJ after a quiet spell.

Have to say I'm a bit confused over the DM scenario. Jasper suggests the priority is a young/exciting forward (which we know) but also lumped the DM too, and not for big money either, potentially ruling out known prospects such as William Carvalho and Kramer.

Then we see Clasie go to Southampton for peanuts.

Only potential exciting but known DM is Rabiot but that sounds tricky.

However JJ has suggested we are looking for a ready made and experienced DM and keeps hinting at McCarthy.

Based on everything I think McCarthy is definitely the plan A right now, and that Martinez conference earlier shows he's worried imo.

As for the forward I'm hoping for Werner, unless a deal for Son is possible (I miss those days where he could have been a cabbage).

Finally the Belgian could well be Mertens being offered by his agent and therefore something we are putting on the back burner.

Players who can cover all the players in the world essentially mean pacey, I assume. Which brings me to my next point. I dont just want, I NEED a race between Walker, Yedlin, and now whoever pacey we bring in and I needed it yesterday. Need it. Gotta get this done soon.

Seeing Clasie go for that kind of money darn near broke my heart. Having said that I'm not sure we, or anyone else for that matter, stood a chance of signing him. He's Koeman's boy. He actually cried when Koeman left Feyenoord.

eh?

I was talking about the midfielders we've sold

It came across that we had enough money to buy mccarthy as we had got £20m from those sales.

If you mean that we have room because we've sold those 3 remeber we also have 3 midfielders back from loan (not counting pritchard).

I'm very interested in seeing how the next few weeks pan out, because if we don't sign a starting quality midfielder when the likes of Clasie and Cabaye have gone to clubs that finished below us, some serious questions need to be asked about our scouting policy.

I'd love us to be audacious and go for someone like William Carvalho, "huge coups on talent alone" would fit this. However, I doubt that would be an easy signing and I'm sure a bigger club will be looking at him soon enough.
Just got injured out for 4-6 or something, maybe get him cheaper?

Does that mean the pyjamas had pictures of Dominguez on them... or they were just really really small?

Hopefully your 'disagree' @JJetset is because you think we have something good in the pipeline, but last summer was a poor transfer window and this one isn't much better. So far it's pretty much a Trippier/Davies, Fazio/Alderweireld comparison.

A midfield of Mason and Bentaleb simply won't be good enough. They got rolled over in several matches. Targets are dropping like flies, and options are running low. Right now it really doesn't look good from a fan's perspective.

I'm not sure that our options will be running low - if our scouting team can only come up with players mentioned by the media, or linked with other clubs, we really are in the shit. There are plenty of players out there.

Of course, if nothing's happened in the next couple of weeks, I'm going full retard!!:arghh:
