I still think we need a little genius in one of the AM 3 , someone who can dribble from a standing start or in tight spaces around the box like Coutinho. We don't really have players of this type at all, and it would really help against teams who park the bus.

I think Coutinho is a bit over rated TBH, he's decent but Eriksen is a better player, but I agree with your gist and have been saying the same all summer. I think this team desperately could to do with adding someone who can see and thread a clever pass against the bus park, even Eriksen can be a little wanting when it comes to maximising these situations where we've won the ball high up, and a killer ball is on but doesn't get delivered.

Agree. When Eriksen is unavailable or ineffective due to whatever reason the only other player we have who can bring anything like what he does is Pritchard. Who I wouldn't mind seeing get a chance, but the fact he didn't even get a look in last season at WBA does raise significant doubts.

So I wouldn't mind seeing 1 final addition of this type of player.

Agreed with everything but the WBA thing. He's just not a Pulis player. It was a stupid loan. Should have dropped down to Burnley, IMO. I admire that he wanted PL but we should have stepped in. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to know that a player like Pritchard would never get a look under Pulis. Just shows our decision making on sending players on loans need work.

I wouldnt be surprised if Pritchard gets sold this year, unfortunately. Someone to push Eriksen has been a big need the last 2 years. Cant afford to go through the summer without bringing one in if we sell Pritchard. We will though, of course.

Because a DM, striker and LW who will all either be on the bench or not in the 18 to start the year is the difference between getting all 3 points or dropping points. We're not signing anyone to improve the first XI this summer and last summer, the only additions made to the first XI were Alli and Alderweireld. Both of which were done way before August. I got news for you, when we dropped points last summer it wasnt because we didnt get transfers done.

And when(if) we drop points that we should have won max points on this summer, it will be because we just werent good enough or we didnt set up correctly.

How can you come to the conclusion of "not good enough" for several years running, while ignoring a) the fact we've eventually climbed out of the rut every year, b) the common theme of managers still trying to get in other players, and c) the common theme of clearly unfinished-looking lineups with zero cohesion? How can you possibly, given those facts, entirely deny a potential mindset problem at hand?

What you've given me is hardly news, it's merely obvious conjecture bred from your own subjective desires for more, more, more - and that is a conclusion which has actually taken account of a pattern, a pattern of your reactions to transfer windows year after year.

Yes it was. Example Stoke 2nil up. Poch took Kane off and we never got out of our half after that and they scored two goals. I could go on. I thought we brought Son and N'Jie close to the end of the window? Hardly getting your washing done early!

But it was. Man United first game of last season, we're one nil down after 22 minutes so chasing the game. Who did we have on the bench to help change the game? Alli (19 & yet to make his debut), Lamela, Mason and Carroll. This season we'll have Janssen, an actual striker, who can come on and be a threat on goal.

Going back to the ITK about N'Koudou this one could be a very astute signing. He was listed joint 30th in UEFAs list of the best players in Europe last year, equal with Kevin De Bruyne and Toby. He also appears to be one of the youngest on the list.

Agree. It's the final piece for me

There must be a quality AM playing for an inferior team we can sign

Needs to be able to dribble with the ball in tight spaces, pick out a pass and get his fair share of league goals

Personally I think Coutinho is quite overrated and not really what you need against bus parkers as dribblers with little actual passing creativity like Coutinho tend to just run straight into cul de sacs more than anything.

We could use a player of that ilk as we don't really have one, but their best use isn't against bus parkers. It's against the better teams where a player like that can face more one on one match ups.

I`m sure I read somewhere that there were a few loan offers for Pritchard, the choice was ultimately his as to where he went.

I think Erikseninho would probably be considered better than Coutinho, but that is the way of the world. Both he and Lamela are great at threading through.

All I'm really looking for now is ITK on Fazio as he's clearly not in plans. Think the squad otherwise is very well knitted (positions, camaradre, and also about right balance for giving some opportunities for the youth and fringe players). Now it's really about who doesn't want to be there can be let go.

We needed this type of signing as sometimes games are won not by the 1st XI, but what you can bring on later in the game when the opponent lags or needs to be stretched.

Eriksen and Lamela are players with the visions and intelligence to thread through balls through tight defence. However you need equally intelligent teammates to see the gaps and make the runs for both of them to play the ball through. Just watched how Eriksen made the run and Lamela supplied the through ball for our winner agaibst city. Unfortunately Spurs teams are not filled with intelligent players whose movements allow Eriksen and Lamela to utilise their play making talents.

Lamela often appears to run into trouble because of taking an extra touch. Many a time this is waiting for a run to be made or a colleague making an unexpected or dumb run.

I'm not going to go into one about what this thread is and isn't for, there's no need. You all know.

First up the ability to post in this thread magically disappears, then out of nowhere, the ability to even see the ITK Forums vanishes. Now who do you blame when the cold reality sets in?

Imagine how much i'm laughing right now.

I live in Liverpool (don't hate me) and trust me...Coutinho is the best playmaker in the league. EVER!
