'tis a bit concerning that Barkley is the prime target. I mean, he's better than Sissoko but he's so samey with what we have. I want explosive, direct, attacking, dribbling, £70m wing forward with 5 star skills and 5 star weak foot and 19 dribbling.

Or, just like anyone a wee bit sparkly, I want dingling and dancing, swinging and swaying, lightning rod like snazzy feet to actually give us that plan b or just something a bit different. And I do not, at any point, mean GKN or N'jie, despite his blonde stripe hairdo.

Take the Walker money, do not pass go, do not collect 200 potatoes and give it directly to AS Monaco enterprises in return for one ex-chart topping Lemar. It's not that easy, I know.
You can probably get that in Amsterdam's red light district

He's always come across a bit laboured to me. As if everything he does it so deliberate and slow. Mind you I haven't exactly watched every game he's played, just the big ones or against us.
He's definitely slow in moving the ball on, and he is no speed merchant but he is a genuine game changer who has the ability to take half a team out by running through the centre.

Thee is a reason he is so highly rated and is liked by Poch. There is also a reason to believe he will never fulfill his potential and just doesn't have the brain to become a top level player.

Barkley is a safe product, that's all. He will not bring any explosive play or dribbling skills different from what we have. Which imo suits Poch as a tactical team player.

So it is fine if we get Barkley to come on replace Alli... I mean it's better than Sissoko.

Aside from walker, none of those were anywhere near the first 11, so doesn't weaken us greatly

But it weakens us nonetheless. I lean slightly on the BSoDL side of the fence, but even so, it's a fair point to make. We've sold a handful of serviceable squad players and a first-teamer without anyone else coming in. Replies to the effect of "we didn't really need these guys anyway" are slightly missing the point.

That said, it's no surprise that the ITK is a little bit cautious about stuff like Barkley. The advantage of getting a couple of your guys in early is three-fold. They join up with the squad earlier, and it stops the natives getting too restless...but it also means that you reduce the chance of Everton/Porto/whoever messing you about.

I'm happy to take whoever Poch wants. It seems Mitchell was the reason for Sissoko (for the love of all things beautiful, what was that all about) and GKN, probably Janssen, if this is who Poch wants then I trust. The bloke is borderline turning water into wine.

I think he does have a very different skillset then our other players. But whatever this isn't the place.

Depends what type you are talking about? If it's another primarily defensive midfielder then we have far bigger priorities.

What we really need imo is another match winner in the final third.
I'm talking about a midfielder who can inject a bit of life into our build-up play.

Barkley will add more goals and assists, he is quite creative which we lack when Eriksen and Lamela are not available

Personally, I would love us to sign Barkley.

A few seasons ago when we were linked with Wellbeck, I said he'd be great signing for us but 'knew' we'd never actually sign him. Those player just didn't want to sign for us - proven PL performers in their prime/yet to hit their prime from Top 7 teams. The traditional top 4 (then 5 with City) were in the business of snapping them up.

I put Barkley in that bracket, and have seen so much potential in him I'm surprised he wasn't poached from Everton a season or two ago - when we wouldn't even have got a look in.

It sounds like we have a great chance of signing him and, should it happen, I think it would mark a real sea change for us as a club. That we are now a viable option for players who want to win something, that we're not just a shop window/stepping stone, and for that I give Poch all the credit in the world.

For me i don't judge a transfer window in the middle or even at the end. I judge it at the end of the season.
