Hah, cheers mate, but I thought I was wading into this discussion like an exclusive-bringing cowboy with impressive manhood, instead, I'm far behind the trend.

I vote we send Luka into hiding for the summer. A secret training camp where he won't be able to read or watch any news and can drip feed him propaganda. Brainwash him into doing a Matt Le Tissier.
Would that be the same Matt Le Tissier who signed for us but when his then-fiance decided she wanted to stay in Southampton asked Irving Scholar to rip up the contract?

I thought that when he signed the 6 year contract it made him the highest earner at the club...and that was something over £70 grand a week:shrug:

I cant believe he's only on 40k after having signed that new contract recently...I thought he would of been on at least 60.

Tell you what though, Levy should be doubling that if accurate...and bloody sharpish.

Yeah, I'm fairly certain I saw an article with quotes from Luka saying he was embarrassed about making so much money, and I'm pretty sure it said he was on £75k per week. If we're upping his wages again I think that's a good sign because he'll have to enter into a new contract and it signals that we have the ability and are willing to be more competitive on wages for key players.

There's no way he is on that. That might have been his initial contract when he joined, but he has signed at least one new one since. I'm pretty sure he is on 65-70K.

Even the broadsheets have 100% pure unfiltered horse muck churning out of their printers right now....

Luka Modric is embarrassed by how much he is earning during a recession.

The Tottenham star signed a new contract in May worth £70,000 a week, but said: 'I am quite annoyed with all the headlines about my wages. Croatia is in recession, the economic situation is hard and I don't like it when numbers are being thrown around.'

Where did the £40,000 a week figure come from originally?

So the Daily Mail forgot that they had already printed that he was on 70'000 a week when they wrote about him only getting 40'000.

And they say footballers get paid too much for doing very little...

Goal.com say they have a story which will be interesting to Spurs and Chelsea fans first thing in the morning. Seen a few people on here claim Goal have a source inside Tottenham

Knowing that site they'll probably exclusively reveal our opening fixtures at 9:30.

Sorry to enter the itk discussion midway, but seeing what archibald has posted...surely we would want Parker OR Adam?

Makes sense to keep the spammers price for Parker down by going for Adam, but it can only be one or the other.

Regardless of who we get in, I hope Sandro greats them with a traditional Brazilian punch in the face and points them in the direction of the subs bench.

I'm not actually employed by Spurscommunity, I just post from my own volition.

Oh wait...you mean the press

1. Don't think we will sign Adam, we are just keeping options open. The story behind the Parker signing is that we want someone with character in the middle to complement the talent that we have. That is what Harry said he was after which is why it makes sense to bring him in on the cheap rather than spending a lot of money on someone more talented (but maybe not as talented as what we already have).

No doubt Parker is not the most talented player we could get, but he would offer us something. Adam on the other hand doesn't make sense in the same way. If Harry is looking to add a wise head, hard working player then Adam isn't it. Yes he probably has more talent than Parker, but he isn't as talented as Luka or VDV or Huddlestone (despite the output - put Hudd in the Blackpool team taking all the penalties and the result would be the same).

I think the supposed interest is just to drive up the Adam price and reduce the Parker price.

2. Drogba, Sturridge, Ivanovic and £25m for Modric??? Sounds utterly ridiculous to me. No way are Chelsea going to have shifted their position so much that they will give us £3m more cash and then throw in Drogba, Sturridge and Ivanovic. In any case this is football, not basketball where you trade a whole load of players. This simply isn't going to happen.

We'd reject it out of hand i'd imagine anyway since we want to keep him and even if it would be a decent deal for us (massive upgrade on our strike force, a good solid defender and money to find some sort of replacement) I'd hate it. I like that we are doing things our way. There is something nice about having a player who only means something to our club, that will go down as a legend. It is OK bringing across the odd player from one of the other big clubs but too many and it tarnishes the feeling.
