Nailsy, I want to believe you mate. Az, I agree with you, I have never thought for one minute that Rossi would join us. But there is something that I don't understand. We have been after him for a long time, no? We have made enquiries, we know this because Harry himself has mentioned it. Yet according to Ryan, who I have no reason to doubt by the way because of who his contact is, says that we are still in for him. Now if as I and many others on here think he wouldn't touch us with Nailsys mum, are we still persuing it.

Unless he has never ruled us out?
I wouldn't be surprised if the intention is to make a marquee signing and our position is to maintain contact in the hope that maybe the price goes down at the last minute, whilst also looking at other possible big names.

I think if we were behind the scenes and saw what was happening we'd see Levy make and offer under £30m in the off chance of pulling it off. If it does he has another great deal, if it doesn't and is told "£30m or more, otherwise fuck off" then the deal doesn't happen and nobody really knows any better. I think the latter is the more likely scenario, but there is no harm in continuing to try and that is why I think we are still linked.

Whey, QPR have some money to spend now, thanks Tony Fernandes. Send it our way!

They just bid 4 mil for Parker.

So, anyone else imagining Adebayor firing us above City with them chipping in to help us pay for his wages? Would be hilarious.

Got to agree with you there Matty. I wonder if we've sounded him out and instead of saying yes or no he's said 'not at the moment'. I think he would like to prove himself in the Prem and we are probably only one of 6 teams that could tempt him. If we improve enough this window then who knows. I certainly can't see any of the other English teams going for him this window.

I can remember Rebrab saying at the start of the window that if we have to pay say £30M for a player that we can later sell for £40M then we will do it.
If we sign Rossi I'm sure his price will go up.

Only if he comes in and does the business so it's still a big gamble.

But no-more of a gamble than any other player. I'm not saying we're going to sign him. It was more a general observation about the price we might be prepared to pay.

Maybe, but hope not.
Not if Adebayor is coming in. Unless we are changing our system I cant see how we would need both and adebayor.

I think we could always use more quality players, ecspecially strikers plus we would be relying on Adebayor staying fit and in form all season (assuming we do sign him) Strong competition for places in the team is only a good thing. If a player thinks he is always going to get a game no matter what he may not be as motivated. Plus in my eyes he would be an upgarde on our current strikers as well IMO.

This is why I'm still struggling to believe it.

Adebayor must be playing some serious hard ball.

Physically he's almost exactly what we need

Not sure prices will hold, due to the Fair Play regulations...so, £30 M for Rossi, now, won't necessarily be £40 M in a year or two (as it may if there were no Fair Play rules).

Well its good to hear the Adebayor lets hope its up on the os asap, Diarra next? is he injured at the moment? as hes not in the Madrid squad again or does that simply show hes basically on his way to us?? once Levy stops haggleing the price? :). Im also suprised to see that the Rossi hype is still so healthy? hes stated he wants to stay where he is hasnt he? and if JKH is to be brought in aswell ( if you believe the Journos itk ) then that just makes it even harder to think that we would go for 3 strikers??? unless Crouch, Pav or Defoe are to be shifted or 2 of the 3? id be v.happy with Ade, Huntellar Diarra and another CB Cahill or Samba!! the best Transfer window in years lol....anybody else noticed Affelay again not in the Barca squad!! is he injured or.....???

Injured.....think he is out for a month. Not sure if this would affect any possible transfer.

I find it strange aswell considering we battered them at the lane and could have won the game easily if we had a top striker and we outplayed them in the midfield at eastlands but lacked that dangerman up front, so they surely know we are a forward away from challenging.........

Pretty sure Afflay is out for six weeks. Will be interesting to see if we do get Adebayor abd the Journo sticks to his KJH is going to be a Spurs player by August 31st? There has been plenty of interest in Crouch but I did read on the Stoke forum that the impression was Crouch wasn't keen on moving there, we haven't had ITK on him in awhile.

I personally hopping Ackies Sigs come off

Rossi/Llorente - Adebayor - 2 from RM - Samba

Now that would be an impressive window!

They have the FFP rule to consider as well, paying £170k aweek for a player training with the youth team when your desperatly trying to balance the books doesn't make sense, they have to try and get their wage bill down somehow. I'm sure they would have rather sold him outright to Madrid but they just don't seem to be intersted.

Plus he won't be able to play against them if it is a loan as we have been led to believe so they have no worries there, he's not going to come back and haunt them yet!

Also I imagine they don't see us as genuine title challengers ergo not their direct rivals and probally hoping that if we have Adebayor we may take a few points off who they see as their title rivals?

But city dont see us as challengers, City are going for the title, when did we
ever make a serious push at the title maybe '87, but not in my lifetime and im getting wrinkles :violin:

More fool them i suppose..

But we are not in their radar until we finish in front of them.
