He's saying we bid £10M + Keane for him last year after he scored a hat trick on us. To be fair, that's close to what the purported fee back then would have been, £18M, as Keane's value was considered to be around £6-8M!

Indeed.

Exactly the reason I think we will get Adebayor in the end, they have to shift him, they simply cannot afford not too thanks to FFP.

So thank you UEFA becuase otherwise I think Ade would just be left to rot but instead I think we wil reap the benfits!

Actually I'm 99.9% sure that the FFP rules do not include contracts signed before this or last season & for that reason Man City won't be affected by having Adebayor & Bellamy still in the team etc - they just would genuinely rather not pay them for doing nothing.

sorry for my non descriptive posts.

Yes this time last year our offer to Villareal for Rossi was 10M plus Robbie.

After that was flatly refused part 2 of the major stuff up was provisionally agreeing a fee of 25m Euros with the board, the night before their meeting to discuss the transfer, player agreed terms all good, then DL and an_other waking up the next morning and deciding it was too much and only offered 20 million and here endeth our chase of Rossi as far as Villareal were concerned!

from a City perspective:

In simple terms even paying half of Ade's wage bill will be great for our FFP forecast.

His wage's do not count against us because his deal was in 2010, but the loan fee and the % of salary they pay (Spurs) will all be classed as income. So £5m wage saving + the £2m fee, £7m towards FFP compliance.... It really is that simple, and what the entire deal is about.

Surely if his wages don't count towards FFP then any income relating to his wages can't count either - seems a bit strange. The loan fee obviously helps them though. But if his wages don't count towards FFP then they really must be desperate to get rid of him to allow him to join us!

If thats the case I bet they would love to negotiate with us again, agree a price and then turn around and say actually changed our minds will give you 5m less. How to lose friends and alienate people springs to mind!

Re: Samba

Im not convinced hes any better than what we have already to be honest. In fact, I dont even think we need another CB, but thats just me personally. Say we was to buy Samba or Cahill it would be atleast £10m and its a waste of money imo. We have Dawson, Bassong, Kaboul, King, Gallas. Corluka, Walker, Livermore and Huddlestone can all play CB too. Waste of money signing a CB unless we did a p/e.

Gallas & King are crocks, Bassong wants to leave. Don't want makeshift CBs if we are to challenge for top 4, I want quality.

Do they count Monday as the last working day before the date they intend to play him? We intend to play him Monday night, so it's the same day and date, but the last business day before the game is still Monday. So letter of the law no, though there's room for interpretation as I read it.

No I believe it is Friday. The rule states it is the last working day before the date of the next match.

I think we are waiting for Adebayor to join before moving on any other significant target no matter which position. If we look too strong to City, they won't want the move to happen. Seems like they are comfortable helping us try to nick some points from Manure and Chelscum, but once we look like we might be a threat to their position I think it would change their comfort level with the move. It is in their best interest to wait till the very end of the window before giving us adebayor to make sure theyre not making us too strong and not allowing us enough time to get anyone of note.

Don't know how true this article is, but if correct it's a great bit of business by Spurs. £80k a week and £12m buy at the end all I can say is

Hopefully that will not be the end and we can get 1 or 2 more, then this will be a fantastic transfer window. Have to admit, I never thought that City would go for it and will be very happy to be proved wrong. Still wait for a picture at WHL before celebrating though.

Sorry probably should have gone in his thread, but since this will be filed in the morning no harm eh?

They have more ITK than we do... They know we're going to splash the cash on other players and strengthen the squad.
