Agree. Didn't we have some ITK recently that Hull registered their interest in Rose? Surely we could fleece 4-5 million out of them for Rose lol

Add that to about 8 plus for Siggy...and you'd be looking at around 13/14 million for the two of them.

All hypothetical...either way we'll need back up for Davies in some capacity.

Fuck me if Dawson and Rose ends up at Hull, Ching-Chong will change their name to Hull Spurs

I think Rose shows in patches he'd be better, certainly attacking...but Davies is definitely a more reliable defender and performs more consistently. You know what you're getting every week etc.

Rose has a long way to go to achieve that sort of consistency IMO - and that's what can separate a lot of players.
In the few matches under AVB that he played he was very solid, not just on the left but he also used his pace to cover the right a few times when someone had gotten in behind (getting to the ball before Gayle against Palace for example).

I'm not sure Davies would have done much better in Sherwood's 4-4-2, with no defensive help from the left winger.

There a vid of him against arsenal in his thread, I think, take a look or youtube.
Thanks for bring that to my attention, his goal was impressive but look at the time and space he usually gets and he still went for the easy pass back or to the side quite often. One thing that worries me is that Poch thinks our players will have as much time and space that Southampton got.

Saints are resigned to him going, its all Poch power on this one, Arsenal do want him.

This is what I've seen. Saints' ITK has been quite adamant he was gone for well over a month now, and were more adamant about his departure even when all the Lovren talk was at its peak (re: Saints selling a limited few).

This is an interesting one. Personally I'd put his price at around £12m-14m, (12 being realistic, 14 if we Levy a club) especially if the bin dippers are getting £14m for Borini...

I'm with ya mate. Our left winger situation is unacceptable if we're to integrate with and grow under Poch's system, and it's rather shockingly underrated as a problem on here because so many are fixated on the left back issue while ignoring the fact the left winger problem exacerbated the problems at left back.

I don't agree with that at all.

LW options: Eriksen, Chadli, Holtby, Townsend, Siggy
LB options: Rose, Fryers, BAE

I don't know about you but LW looks MILES better than LB. Some may be sold (siggy) and some may play better in a different position (Eriksen & Holtby) but they're all decent options. I also believe Chadli has a lot more to offer this team.

I think it's clear that we could be open to adding a class player at the position (Griezmann?), but that's it - The depth is clearly there. LB has almost nothing.

If I was a betting man, I'd say we see Eriksen backed up by Chadli at LW. I think the center role will be filled with Holtby/Paulinho. Although it's hard to say as Poch had Steven Davis in that role so considering that I think Holtby/Paulinho are actually better fits than Eriksen. I'm just not sure if Davis was a tactical decision or if it was a lack of other talent decision.

He was good early doors, really stood out against Norwich IIRC. Had he not got injured and played at that level consistency throughout the season I doubt we'd even be having this conversation.

He may go on and achieve that, he may not. The Club isn't convinced that he will obviously. At this moment Davies is the more reliable defender.

How much are you guys willing to bet that we put ourselfs in the same situation as last year by selling Rose?

This. I hope rose sticks around to fight for his place. Left back is specialised position and we need more than one, with EL their is lots of games and Davies can't play all of them

Fryers is a lot better now and has some experience. Good enough back up for me. Last year at this time, he was not acceptable back up.

Has done a good job in his few games he's had at left back but isn't he seen as more of a CB

I'd be delighted to take that bet if you're interested. I'd explain my rationale as to why, but I really don't want to even give you the chance to reconsider.

So is this Stobart worth taking any notice of then?

Barrett (Times), King (Mail), Pearce (Echo) have all recently just said same as Stobart so I'm wondering if he's just seen this and copied off them as they're known to be close to Ayre. I know Goal in itself is about as good as the Metro.
He's pals with Daniel Levys son I believe... But he does admit to being given false leads too from the Levys...
Edit..conscious others have filled Toela in on this - having now caught up on posts overnight....

Swansea fans said Davies was awful in the second half of the season and were calling for Taylor to be reinstated at LB, so I'm not so sure he is as reliable and consistent as everyone thinks.
