I think the big contracts are a lot more complicated - not just on the money.

Those players want to see a commitment from the Club towards continued improvement before they sign their own deals. Ideally, Poch gets a new deal soon, which sends the signal to the players that Levy will back Poch, which leads to players signing extension.
also quite clever PR from the club....these contracts are building the feel good factor but would get a little lost in the aftermath of a star contract signing/ improvement

A lot of these contracts are likely to be so that we get full whack when we sell the player on rather than indicative of players who are going to become 1st team fixtures.

He did well at Ipswich, I believe. Perhaps that was sufficient to convince the club he's bypassed any reservations they had about him.

Wasn't there ITK a few months back from Herc (maybe?) that we were looking to move CCV on as he wasn't seen to have a future at the club?
don't know how long he currently has left on his contract but contracts aren't always there because we 100% want a player. could be handed a contract to bump up his selling value maybe? if hercs is banging along the lines of de ligt I'm not so sure we need him long term?

With CCV specifically, I assume this is to give the club another year to evaluate his progress. I would not write him off just yet. He is still very young - particularly by CB standards. He will presumably have a chance to show what he has improved in pre-season and USA tour, and then probably another loan, and everyone will re-group next summer to see where he stands.

All very exciting so far but I feel there’s more to come given the levels of teasing the mods gave us this morning.

Admittedly at least one of them is a known sadist so I could be wrong...

This place drives me crazy.
You start thinking you're Poirot, looking for clues everywhere.
There's a triangle next to the thread title today. Never used before = three signed today? :pompous: :hungover:
Roll on September (obviously the other alternative is to stay away from here but that isn't going to happen)

Both were quite early for our PR team so I could see a 3/4pm announcement aswell

Maybe someone like Foyth or onomah or someone like that

Out of all the youngsters, i'd love it if Onomah signed on. I think he did last season though when he went off to Villa IIRC.
Yeah same but so did CCV iirc, same with Sanchez and KWP. Seems if players demands are fair and we see some value in it we like to just constantly upgrade contracts.

The new contract thing is actually pretty important. If the window closes in the UK before the rest of Europe, we're open to having players poached when the window shuts.
