6.8 million for Taarabt, and he's not even our player. Nice one PSG.

17 million fee agreed according to most papers.

good business as this is one that came off

I just wonder if we cannot get people interested in buying our dead wood because of the deals that Levy wants. Sell on clauses can seriously devalue our players as when they move on the club we sold them to get bugger all back, I also wonder if he is over valuing our players and that maybe why we cant get rid of our deadwood.

I know he is a strict business man but maybe we need to find some middle ground so there are benefits to the teams that want to buy our players otherwise we'll be stuck with them forever.

Hi all, just some questions:

How many member's did SC lose to suicide after mystery's post?

Although perhaps the mass suicide didn't happen, if the also read this

Perhaps Soulman, just saw the light and put pen to paper?

And regarding CM post/s

I assume he means 1 of V/A/R

Seems extremely unlikely (though good to see keane wasn't also included)

Harry has said on numerous occasions that he believes 3 "top"(1st team) strikers is the way, 4 is to difficult to manage. ( a view i agree with). Whilst VDV may not have the word striker after his name, he fills a position of 1. So is in the count.

Also taking into account we need to reduce the squad to 25.
Harry's qoutes on needing to "refresh" i think that was 1 of the enthusiasm he used:). Are we really going to go into the season with 6 players VDV, New S, Def, Pav, Cro, and SoulMan (assume he won't be loaned out, as i don't think he will, POV) for 2 positions?

Sorry i just don't think so. Keane plus 1 of Cro, def, pav, (I hope 2) will be gone, for a NEW S to come in......or mystery will be correct!

Still at least WHEN SoulMan plays, he has a song already...which is nice
Do people really think City would sell Adebayor to us, after the evidence over Bellendamy?

I Can't...Which is also fine by me, whilst i agree, he would be an upgrade on what we have, and lets face it who isn't(rhetorical) But personally i cant stand the guy.

I agree, I can't see 4 staying unless those three know they aren't going to play, but Soulman would not take a place in the squad and do expect kane to start in europa

Expect another Striker on top of Coulibaly!
Pav, Defoe and Crouch will all be here come september 1st unless we get a ridiculous offer...
Bassong rejected Wolves...
Will move for Samba if Bassong goes
Adebayor willing to take a pay cut and join us...This should happen if Real get Neymar
This!

You are confusing me.

On the one hand you're saying a top summer would include Vucinic, Ade and Rossi or Aguero. Now agreeing that we'll be lumbered with the impotent trio Defoe, Pav and Crouch.

Ah well if it is true, expect Liverpool to overhaul us.

I wonder if Levy, aware of the public/media criticism if he were to sell players at big losses (I'm looking at you Messers Keane, Bentley and maybe Defoe), wants to get his bigger profits up front first. The fans won't care as much if we sell Keane for 4-5m if we know we've already bagged 5m for JOH, 10m for Gio and 6.8m for Taarabt.

Not that it's any of our business, really, but it's ludicrous to criticise the Keane deal in the light of those three.

Bill, I doubt we will have the three strikers here ie Defoe, Crouch and Pav.
I think Pav and Defoe will still be here and hopefully 2/3 of Vucinic / Rossi / Adebayor will be here.
I'm expecting a deal or two with Real Madrid. It looks like they have got Nilmar (The young brazilian Striker), so they may offload a striker...perhaps Benzema or Huguain. I know that Arsene is interested in Benzema.
Liverpool are also monitoring the Madrid situation. They are also looking for a LB and a young striker.
I believe Wolves was interested in Bassong and i believe he turned them down.
I believe Newcastle, Sunderland or Everton are interested in Defoe and QPR in Crouch. Some really do like Crouch because of set pieces.

For the club to progress it must be willing to make loses on players who's positions we need to improve on ie the strikers etc but I do think the club want to do this.

Keeping Defoe is a mistake. I can't help but think that if we get a new striker than Defoe will become a super-sub, in which case the likelihood is that he will start complaining about it in the newspapers. Plus, when he comes on as a sub and does absolutely bugger all we will hear the same line of shit from the pro-Defoe crowd that he "is a confidence player" and "needs a run of games".

I would prefer 2 strikers in (I do not count the new kid who has no top flight expereince at all - he is clearly an investment for the future, not this season. He is not another Sandro). If only one is to come in then frankly I would rather retain Keane than Defoe. Defoe had his chance last year and he blew it. It's time for someone else to have a shot IMO (even if it means Pav is a starter if there is only one new striker).

If CM's info is true then I'll be disappointed. We need two new strikers + Coulibaly. I've said it before but to be consistently successful we need a striker who isn't Pav, Crouch, Defoe or Keane on the pitch at all times.

Even if we buy Adebayor and Vucinic,I would keep all our stikers apart from keane.

Offload them in January when the bottom clubs are desperate and near the relegation zone. We'll get much more money for them.

We've struggled to buy ONE new striker in the past few transfer windows - now people are hoping we miraculously somehow are going to sign two?!

Seems unlikely!

I would love it, absolutely love it, if we were to get Vucinic and Adebayor. I just don't see it. One as a push, and even then I'm not convinced we'll get either.
