I'm not sure how much chance we have, but by all accounts, Drogba has played his last game for Chelsea. Not traveled with the Chelsea team for the game tomorrow, and has cleared his locker out at Chelsea and taken all of his boots.

Out of interest, where did you hear this? Not doubting you, just curious.

Meeting nxt week with Redknapp and Levy to sort transfer targets. Experience & leaders favoured. Parker, Drogba etc
This is the thing I find even more disappointing than some of the rumoured (elderly) transfer targets. Assuming that this is the first such meeting, why the hell are they meeting next week? Why not at the end of the previous window (or earlier) in order to identify options 1, 2, and 3 in each position in order to start negotiating with the clubs they play for?

I understand that requirements and targets can change, but starting the whole process now is surely far too late. We should be signing players when the window opens, not scrambling around five minutes before it closes.

Drogba is a beast. Would love him at Spurs, perfect man to lead the line on his own. Plus, he's a player that loves to be loved and one thing Harry is good at is blowing smoke up players arses.

Yes, with his arse pipe. Blow Harry, blow!

Think Chelsea are saying he's not traveled tomorrow due to picking up a knock.

Why would we want the likes of Drogba,Parker,Neville or Ferdinand, these are just quick fixes but with no long term solutions?

Is it just our manager and some of our fans who believe the old crap - You will never win anything with young players!

Welcome to the Alan Hanson school of football!

Didn't we try this once before with Hoddle, and it resulted in a very disappointing failure.

Surely the policy that has yielded best results for us was the one initiated by Levy/Arnesen and continued by Comolli, the one that most successful sides follow. That system allows for the odd, top class, 30+ player, but not half a team, that doesn't work and is dangerously short term, for a club like us, the majority of whose transfers must make financial sense as well footballing sense.

If one of Modric or VDV does decide to leave Spurs should have a look at Diego. Wolfsburg are relegated and he doesn't get along with Magath. He's been placed to the reserves because of this and his dad who's also his manager has already made it clear that no matter what Diego won't return to Wolfsburg and they should sell him.

We have a squad full of talented young players. What was clearly lacking this season was leadership, experience, a winning mentality, and a goalscorer.
Looking at players like Parker, Drogba etc would help resolve these issues, making us stronger in competing, by adding some youth aswell, would be a good mix and be a very productive summer.

Yep, I have wanted Diego ever since we were linked and nearly signed him from Santos, back in the day when Pleat was DoF.
But, we couldn't play with him and VDV together.

TBH i do not know what the fascination is with getting an old head/s this window.
Last few windows it has been Forlan, Fabiano, Parker, Neville, Beckham.
Now add to that list Rio and Drogba.
Out of that list Drogba would be the only one i would take as long as we mixed it up with a few younger signings.
In my opinion if all our signings are from that list, we should be very worried in the long term.
For example
Buy
Beckham = Lennon poss transfer request
Phil Neville = BAE, Corluka, Rose poss transfer request
Rio = Kaboul, Caulker, Gallas, poss transfer request
Parker = Sandro, Wilson, Jenas(there is an upside!) poss transfer request
Drogba = Upgrade on all our strikers

The Drogba move has the most going for it as our strikers are woeful. The rest old heads mentioned with just take up spaces in our squad and stunt progress made with the young'uns. For all we know they might all do what Bassong and Niko will do and move on begrudgingly looking to get game time.

By the way whats Joe Cole done since his move to Liverpool compared to VDV? Proves Premiership players can fail as much as unproven ones.
