I really think the transfer forum should open on the last week of each window. Almost nothing will be missed by way of signings and it will save a lot of pointless discussion.

The BBC says we have agreed a deal with Ajax but not signed the player yet, which is helpful. Ajax signed him in 2016 for less than £4m. We are buying him at 10x that price. I find that more shocking than Neymar's fee. We had to wait years to get that kind of return on Bale and Walker.

We bought Dele Alli for £5m.

Two years later we could probably sell him for at least 30 times that.
