Herc said in Ndombele thread they want 40m Euros for him - so he's not the player we have an agreement upon, so the worst case scenario is Andre Gomes, and realistic is someone even better. I'll take that.

Guessing games aside, between the foreign player and the Grealish negotiations ticking along, we are moving at pretty fast pace early on this window. These aren’t even the two players Herc originally implied they wanted in early and we’ve already moved quickly on other options. Thanks Herc and other ITK for all your info!

Don't understand why every word that an ITK says on these forums gets taken as information. First and foremost these people are fans. That's why they're on here in the first place. Second of all, that number was published by L'Equipe overnight and Herc's post was clearly a reflection on that, yet we have double digit informative ratings on it and numerous posts in here claiming it to be info.

People really need to use their heads more often.

Mainly because the clue given by Herc's was the player's "name is out there causing discussions" (presumably on this forum)...

So it's either Ndombele or Gomes IMO.

And Herc also went on to say in the Ndombele thread that Lyon are wanting more than 40million euros. Can deduct from that theres no deal in place for him.

Both Trix and Herc posted in his thread a string of cryptic emoji's recently. Herc did the same with Grealish days before the story broke about our interest in him

Please put this out there on behalf of ITK’s on this site. The powers that be know who the cryptic, emojis, and comments like ‘overseas’. It seems that some want name, chapter, time and date (joke).

That will not happen, as it compromises our sources. Obvious clue on player I am referring to. It is NOT Grealish, as that is as good as almost done. The player I make reference to apllies his trade in La Liga at present. And is already dividing opinions, and ‘not the statement signings we were expecting’. Even that can change, as we tend to do this quite often. I am neither sitting on the fence, trying to act smart. Just telling it as it is.

With what I know and see, our midfield purchases (2) will be cute ones. The money is for forward position (Martial), or find someone in that ilk. Don’t rule anything out is what I say in that department. Even if I don’t see it happening.

Will be extremely disappointing if our central midfield signings are Andre Gomes and Jack Grealish (and I'm a fan of Grealish) ...

Arguably the position that needs addressing the most this summer.

Just how good that Martial alternative is will define whether the window is a failure or a success for me. If it's Zaha or Bale, then we've done exceptionally well, if it's Shakiri, Levy out.

Well, there it is. Thanks Hercules, I think that's clear enough - even I can unravel those clues and I'm getting on for lead on the density scale.

Going into this window I think everyone had CM, AM and, probably, CB as the areas to improve with RB/LB as maybes.

We seem to have clear preferences for the CM/AM spots, with 3 players identified to cover the 2 spots. We can't always dictate the timescale of transfers, but it's mid-June and moves have apparently been made. That's encouraging.

With the talk of being brave, challenging for the title and building up, I would be underwhelmed if we end the window with Gomes, Grealish and Martial. I would guess that between those 3 we're looking at 120-130m

I will hold judgment until the window closes and if Poch is happy by then, then that's all that matters.

We have a budget, better than most seasons, likea any team we need to budget how thats spent and whats the optimal we can realistically acheive with that. That doesnt mean to be negative, all teams the same, we are trying to play smart in the mid areas, cute buys decent young players that can become real gems, not just a standard young player, then majority ( not saying all remaining but) on the superstar signing. Seems we have a proper plan in place thats been discussed ongoing so its not shoddy or hap hazard to say the least, this time there seems more positivity imo due that we as a club feel we can compete to a much better standard commercially.

thanks herc as always. narrows the field of thinking as surely if we're committed to spending martial money in that position then the shortlist of alternatives is very small (pretty sure we can all come up with the 4 names by now).

just hope we don't miss a trick by letting de ligt go, regardless of what happens with toby.
