I would be happy to save money on the centre midfield positions if it meant we had another game changer in attack - Martial, Zaha or Bale would transform our forward potency, but I don't see a similar level talent available to us this summer at CM. Spending big on a forward and saving on midfield makes sense considering who is available this summer.
I think we should all admit that Bale is the least likely deal we've been linked with.

Regarding Martial, it seems we have a backup in place. We were previously told that Malcom was all agreed for the summer, but the Bordeaux president has come out and discussed links with Bayern recently. He's also being linked with Chelsea and Inter. It's hard not to feel like we may repeat our mistakes of missing out on Target A whilst letting backup targets B, C go to other clubs, causing us to scramble and fall back to target F.

Call me crazy, but despite what the ITKs are saying, I think Martial is actually the most least likely deal of those three

I just can't get my head around why a rival, who's squad strength is closely matched to our own, would want to give us the advantage of a fantastically talented young forward.

Even if they thought they could get Toby in return, overall Martial is the more influential player; come the end of the season, he'll have won us more points than Toby will have for them.

I think the ITKs are passing on their info in good faith, but I just wonder if the club is being slightly 'ambitious' with this deal to say the least.

I would say Toby helps them more than Martial helps us. We have similar players to Martial already (Son, Lucas), and who knows if he's going to perform better than those two? United have to protect their defense because it's not very good, so Mourinho keeps their attacking players on a leash somewhat. With better defenders they can allow their attacking players more freedom, so a top quality defender like Toby helps them a lot.

But I would say that if deals are mutually beneficial then we should do them, even if they help a rival. It's City that we need to keep up with and Arsenal that we need to stay ahead of.

For me, Toby stays at WHL or goes the continent/China/MLS. Can't go to EPL

Remember when everyone was nervous about things not being done before the world cup? This is why! Nothing is going to happen until the tournament is over and then we have 3 weeks to do it all. Marvelous!
