Hertyid's latest post is a little surprising given the apparent crescendo that was building!

Perhaps the Poch / Fergie comparisons will be borne out this summer and we'll see the likes of KWP / Winks / Onomah / Edwards etc will be the squad players we're looking for? Risky but would be as exciting in many ways as having a bench full of Ross Barkley's.

Announcing Barkley today, if we're going to sign him, makes a lot of sense. Has him involved for the US tour etc.

Plus we can do a great/lame twitter video announcement of everyone on the plane, then, oh it's Barkley!

It's this current trend of fancy videos that makes me even less sure we'd be able to announce it as quickly as today. Let's hope they are reading and nick your idea

Does this guy have form for good info? I hope it's true as I rate Barkley, and think Poch could get a better tune out of him than Koeman. I'm always sceptical when I hear people mention wages etc though. Unless they are are Very close to the deal, how could they know and even if so, it's incredibly unprofessional.

I read the ITK as not announcing Barkley deal, but merely announcing/leaking to media that his demands are not 150k a week.

If they're super pissed off they can try and negotiate a new contract. If we don't buy anyone or offer anyone new any kind of decent wages in case we upset someone else in the squad it's going to be very hard to move forward in the current climate.
