Yes exactly, why aren't we.

If we can but don't, and end up losing players as a result, that's for me is negligence.

I disagree, negligence would be to chase the pack! The simple fact now is that there are 6-7 teams going for champions league football now (if Everton join the race) which means 4 teams are spending above their means in the short term (as CL money all goes to the bottom line) - Levy will not try to spend at the top table levels until we have a consistent revenue model to support it. Even then City and Chelsea are not spending with sense, they are outspending Utd in some instances with a fraction of their revenue. Something has to give. Our wage bill is far closer to the mid table budgets than to Utd, Arsenal and City. So with that in mind who do we buy without risking another Sissoko.

People always seem to suggest signings = improvement but that isn't always the case. We could certainly do with some additions to the squad but since the start of the year we've been the best team in England. Things are far from bad.

I'd argue that none of them are spending above their means. The calculus has changed in recent years with the new money coming in to the PL.

This issue w wages isn't a new problem. A & C posted about it weeks ago. The new money coming in to the League has made our wage structure situation all the more untenable.

We ended the season strongly, once we'd been knocked out of all the cup competitions and could focus on the league.

The players are going to want either trophies or more money next season and we need more quality and depth to better last seasons amazing efforts.

If ever there's a time to show ambition it's now.

Simple - whatever we do then it should be planned. It's been working so far hasn't it?

Always felt this was a put up or shut up window for us, so far it's not going well at all. Our team is too good for our wage bill, in my eyes that makes now the best time to go for it, give this team the best opportunity to win something. We'll have plenty of transfer cash if it all falls apart anyway.

Our manager is so good we only really needed to bring in 1 or 2 targets on top of sales. We've supposedly been planning targets for months now. In that time we haven't got near a single signing. When we were bringing in 6-7 a window fair enough drain the life out of every deal, but now we are better off putting the big boy pants on, paying a bit more and letting Poch integrate them in preseason. It's what the proper big clubs do. Sales leave us with around £80m right now, we can't get 2 players for that?

Instead we sign a player in mid August for value, only for them to struggle to adapt due to lack of integration time. Quality. Would Bournemouth really prefer to lose Josh King after the season has started? Doesn't matter, seems we just tell everyone in the media how we are considering, maybe, to possibly contemplate testing the waters, with an unofficial enquiry at some point in the future.

We even got a massive windfall as the aforementioned top manager turned an above average full back into a world record defender to boost the kitty this summer. We knew this was on the cards since April too, and yet still aren't any nearer a replacement RB (Which ITK has constantly said we DO want).

I love what Poch is doing on the pitch, I love what Levy has done with the training ground, stadium, etc... but our transfer activities leave a lot to be desired. Signings are no guarantees, but if you scout well and get them in early you give them the best chance.

I'm not asking us to spunk £70m on RBs like MA City, but I would like Poch to get a couple of his targets wrapped up in preseason for once. He's earned that. I'm proud of how well we did with the handicaps we have, but how about we give him all we can to help for once and see how that goes?

That's my feelings on things at the moment. I love our coach and team, and think we will compete, but we do need to add a little bit of extra quality to the squad to give them the best chance of actually achieving what we all want.

Totally agreed, atm though things are good, like really really good, best in my lifetime good but people are still losing their shit......I just don't get it. Maybe it's me who doesn't get it? I'm just really happy with the manager, squad and club currently, it's weird and feels wrong but things are good :)

I think most people are really really happy with our manager, with our club and our first eleven, but I think extending that to be really really happy with our squad is up for debate. And that's where the "problem" lies, our squad isn't deep enough to lose first team players and compete in four competitions.

Is anyone?

Is it more about the team or the individual?

Morata scored 20 in 43 appearances for Real Madrid last season, season prior to joining Spurs Soldado scored 30 in 46. Costa is a proven goalscorer in the Premier League. So nobody knows if Morata is an improvement.
