People always seem to suggest signings = improvement but that isn't always the case. We could certainly do with some additions to the squad but since the start of the year we've been the best team in England. Things are far from bad.

yes, yes but don't you see the problem with teams around us strengthening while we stand still? end of the day you could argue that these teams 'need' to strengthen but a number of the teams needing to strengthen also won more silverware than we have in the past 9 years last year alone.

Morata scored 20 in 43 appearances for Real Madrid last season, season prior to joining Spurs Soldado scored 30 in 46. Costa is a proven goalscorer in the Premier League. So nobody knows if Morata is an improvement.

There's certainly something in this, Lukaku and Morata are both replacing top performers in Ibra and Costa. I don't think either will be able to massively outperform their predecessor.

Everton have bought well but lost their star and top goalscorer. Liverpool have added an attacker, but were pretty stacked there and are struggling more at weakness areas (CB/DM).

Lacazette is big at Arsenal but only if Sanchez and Giroud stay, if not it's similar to Lukaku and Morata situations.

With Chelsea they have strengthened the squad very well with Rudiger and Bakayoko however, and this is the league winners. Utd have added Lindelof to improve their CB options. We need to make similar moves. Barkley and Pereira would have been a very solid start, and we'd still be in credit after sales, but through a combination of poor planning and bad luck, neither seem close right now.

It is imo
can't stand costa and wanted us to get Morata in the Bale deal (AVB tried) BUT got to disagree with this....look at Costa's record for Atletico and Chelsea (apart from when he downed tools) the guy is a monster

Chelsea got lucky with injuries last season --- more games and less luck on the injury front would shake them susbtantially

Keep hearing this 'we can't compete at the top table' regarding wages and transfers. But we ARE playing at the top table now. Understand we are in a difficult position regarding transfers and strengthening. Like was quoted before we need to be smart. Like most people ageee we just need maybe 3 that can come in when we rotate for all competitions. I'm still keeping the faith and sure it will happen. Now wether they will be good signings is another matter. We seem very hit and miss regarding transfers.

Morata has scored more than 8 in a top flight season once. One player I really don't get the hype with. Costa scores more, and offers far more to the team.

Couldn't believe this so had to check..... and you are spot on.

Year League App Gls
2012–13 La Liga 12 2
2013–14 La Liga 23 8
2014–15 Serie A 29 8
2015–16 Serie A 34 7
2016–17 La Liga 26 15

I thought Morata was considered to have been outstanding for Juventus? His stats don't reflect that at all.
He's got some way to go to justify a 60m price tag.
