I don't doubt there will be contract announcements but then again would we really need praying hands for those?

As for the carnage in here tonight I can't help thinking some people are losing it big time, might I suggest they read "IF" the poem by Rudyard Kipling for a little bit of perspective

Then perhaps tomorrows thread will be a touch less heated.
G'dnight all.
Well, I certainly would be happy if his comment related to signings. But like I said, new contract announcements are also super important. And if some were still unsigned, and we are waiting until next week to confirm, it could be regarding returning players, which is fine by me!
As for folks losing their heads... well, that’s life on SC, right? (y)

(“IF”...should be a poem every father reads to their son. Mine did it for me, and I did the same for my son. Also read it at my Dad’s funeral. It’s a beautiful and profound piece of writing)

Zaha would be seriously underwhelming, and especially for the expected price. I’d much rather sign no-one than waste money on Zaha, though I know ITK has indicated Poch is a fan.
Yes, much would depend on cost. But if I were asked at the beginning of the window who I’d prefer between Zaha and Martial I would choose Zaha. I see Martial as somewhat similar to Son. But, Zaha I feel brings something different to the table. He’s a brilliant player waiting to emerge. But, as noted earlier, it would come down to money. Splurging 60 or 70m on him would be kinda crazy. But for 40m... I think he’d be worth it.

If Chelski agree to sell any or all of Morata/Willian/Hazard, they are going to be heavy on cash and light on attacking players, even with the financial implications of Abromovichski's little visa indiscretions. Could easily see the them ending up with the highest bid for Zaha and could also easily see a fee quite close to what Palace are allegedly asking for. Would be sad, not least because I'd love to see an home grown player with his pace and trickery at Spurs, but also because Chavs are where good young home grown talent go to slowly rot on the bench (or on loan). Also, just saying, if they sell Willian and use the Willian money to outbid us on Zaha, I will punt a small dog off a very tall bridge.

Or Martial. Bloody captialism.

So our primary target is dead another target is a long shot...

It’s ok though because the only reason other teams are signing players is because they are spending more money on transfers and contracts and agents. And the joke is on them because the only benefit they get is aquiring the players they want and addition time to integrate said players into the squad. And our manager has said publically that quality of player and time for integration are not important

They've had additional time to integrate said players into their squads over the past few seasons, they've all still finished below us.

Have faith, we always do our deals later and we always finish higher than the bookies or pundits expect us to do

I won’t dislike your posts as I don’t want to feel the blunt end of AC’s stick, but I do dislike this. I really don’t rate him especially for the money they are after

He's not in the same league as Martial. Such a shame that one looks dead as he's the one I really want

Because our manager is a miracle worker and we have the best striker in the Premier League. Neither of these excuse the fact that we start slow and risk not keeping up with the other clubs.

Jesus Christ this thread is hard to follow.

I’d like Zaha as a signing. He would add something but it wouldn’t sort our squad striker problem. I’d much rather we spend big on 2 players (striker/ wide forward and centre mid) and left everything else alone if money is an issue.

A lot of bipolar reactions flying about but surely no one can deny the window has been disappointing so far

Leaving deals late also becomes a necessity sometimes. Who's to say that if we hadn't waited until other clubs had done their business that we wouldn't have been gazumped by someone else for the likes of Sanchez or other players in the past like Van Dier Vaart etc.

I completely get what you're saying it really would be a benefit getting them in, getting them understanding their teammates and the Tottenham way but our finances aren't the same as the teams we are punching against, and we still have a £1bn stadium to build whilst trying to balance our books. Our wage bill is closer to Burnleys than it is Arsenals because of years of underperforming when the money started coming into football. Simply put we are behind the big boys financially and have to find a feasible way to compete, whatever that may be.

If you offered me the chance to get mediocre players through the door early or a better quality of player in towards the end, whatever reason might be behind us doing so as we really don't know the reasons why we leave it so late, I know what I'd prefer to see.

We've signed good quality players down the years (also some duds, granted) I have faith in our scouting team and ability to broker deals in the best interest of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. We may miss out on some but that's better than throwing money at ones that may not work out and ending up like a team like Villa.

I'm as frustrated as you but there's a reason it happens behind the scenes and most of the time it holds us in good stead

Ive always been against Zaha. Too much buck for the miniscule bang. Hes just not at our level. And now with Moura here(who is a far better player), Zaha makes fuck all sense. Pass.

Oh god, more Zaha talk.

I really, really don’t rate him. I hope we’ve got other targets in mind and that we don’t consider paying even half of what they’re allegedly asking for him.

I wanted Martial, Zaha would be acceptable (just) but it's just so unimaginative. It's like we have the same recycled list every summer.

Let's hope the deals Herc is alluding to swing our way and they are players who will improve our first 11. Please no more squad fillers, it would be an insult.

Now no Martial. Bale and Modric were lovely pipe dreams. Wasn't this summer the one to make a statement?? Unless the statement is actually "Top 6? That'll do nicely."

Ourselves and Scouse were at very similar junctions, both needed some fine tuning with some added quality to dare is to do (challenge city), so far one team is doing what is needed, maybe Levy can get a good deal selling them our motto...

If Chelsea sell any or all of Morata/ Willian or Hazard there going to really struggle to replace their quality for the money they get for each of them)

I can see Sarri absolutely hammering Serie A for talent, most of which might be from his old club Napoli
