BEN on barkley again:
The one poch wants

I get why we are in for him - last year of contract, English, potential - but I can't understand why Poch likes him that much. He seems much more like a Levy signing to me. Meaning that he offers a potentially large upside on resale value while not risking a lot.

Ben's ITK makes sense. Poch is smart and learns from mistakes - he's spoken before about buying players used to the Prem league rather than from abroad. His greatest successes as signings have arguably been Toby, Wanyama, Davies and Trippier (although not all met with absolute enthusiasm from fans). Barkley fits this criteria.
Poch may have decided after the experience with Fazio, Stambouli, N'Jie and N'Koudou that buying from abroad is more of a risk.

Seems reasonable.

Levy likes that he's both young and on his last year.

Poch likes that he's got Premier League experience.

And BEN likes the fact that he has 'Bark' in his name, which would make him his third favourite player after Toby Alder-weireld and Moussa Siss-oak-o.

Gives him wood I guess.

We know Poch likes big, powerful, athletic players, and a bit of PL experience doesn't hurt for him, too. So no real surprise about Barkley IMO.

Let's hope he doesn't have to wait until the last minutes of the window to get this across the line.
This is definitely one of those deals where it could pay off (or fail) to wait until the selling clubs starts to panick. I don't think anyone who Barkley would be interested in signing for will match Everton's initial asking price.

I wonder if Barkley is that 'household name' to which earlier ITK referred...

Taking into account his nationality, his undoubted ability, his availability contract wise and the fact he would be leaving his boyhood club as they embark on a spending spree. This would be a real coup

When he first burst into the scene I remember thinking that he reminded me of a young Gazza in his style of play and I would love to see that kind of player in our shirt again.

Obviously he hasn't pushed on as was expected, but there is still some raw talent in there that could be molded into a cracking player if he is up to the challenge.

I'd describe it more as a calculated gamble personally than a coup.

Barkley has upside but if he's our main acquisition this summer with accompanied fanfare then i'll be honest, i'll be slightly underwhelmed.

Barkley has pace, power, technique, comfortable to shoot with both feet. Under the right guidance (Poch) he would reach the highest levels. I believe he's a special talent who would absolutley buzz off the players in our squad.

I'm happy with this bit of news, got magic in his feet when he's on it - Hope we get him. Adding Barkley and Lamela back would be a big upgrade to the squad.

I'm loving the fact the Ben "tree" ITK has info on BARKley.

Some things just fall into place

Leaf the tree or four obvious wooded plant puns alone boss; or at least branch out.

You know how the thread gets clogged up by people trying to add their own efforts.

Rooting around for terribly tenuous err... I've run out. Stick that.

Don't really see a downside to signing a young, athletic player with heaps of natural ability and Premier League experience. Especially considering we have the best manager in the league when it actually comes to improving players. Barkley makes sense on a lot of levels.

Ben only supports Spurs because of Daniel Leafy.
