dragon1 on in dier to manu thread: People underestimate the love the players have for poch and what they want to achieve together , the only player I thought may go this summer was walker and I still hold that opinion

Reports today Everton are not budging from their 50m valuation :ROFLMAO:

Reminds me of the Berahino situation at West Brom. It's all very well standing on principle, but you can end up with an unhappy player leaving for much less when their contract runs down.

They want £50 million for a bang average player (albeit with a bit of potential) who has a year left on his contract?

Who the f*** do they think will buy him for that?

Hardly bang average but £50m is a joke price with a year left to run on his contract.

Plus they'll pay him another years wages. I know that's only maybe £2.5m but it's still money that could go elsewhere.

My only thoughts though is that Ben snippet about being the one Poch really wants.

West Brom got £12m for berahinho, not too shabby for a player who hardly played and with not long left on his contract. What were we offering? Probably not much more

There is still 2 months to go until the window closes, they will keep the price high for as long as it takes. Why lower it now especially if some mug will pay it. Smacks of deadline day if at all.

Rather than again waisting a full summer on a player Pochettino thinks he wants (Barkley), just to end up panicking and eventually signing whoever is plan Z, we should go out there and seal other targets right away, signing plan B or C.

Sounds to me like they are trying to force him into signing the new contract.

They've picked the wrong club if not and they think we are stupid enough to pay that.

Holy crap that's a lot of ITK all of a sudden.

I'm not worried in any way by the lack of signings, personally. Good news from Dragon about Dier.

That's still less than half what they were asking for, and they had basically no input from him as a player after turning down our bid. I admire the principle but it's not what I would call good business sense. There's a reason Levy always keeps our players on longer contracts.

Incidentally the Barkley news simply says to me they'll be difficult until the end of the summer, realise they're going to have to sell him for half what they want, and we'all get him late on, which will mean almost no pre-season and a tougher start for him.

Which considering how many Spurs fans don't want him, is not the ideal scenario.

Main thing of course is to get shot of Sissoko anywhere anyhow.

Yep unfortunately we seem to have one of these every summer
Piss about going after a player the club refuses to sell at the price we are willing to pay.
Maybe we'll scramble for Dwight Gayle on deadline day. 46 million to Newcastle in installments

To be fair to Everton they can do or say what they like. And fair play to them. If that was us we would want to make it as difficult as possible too.

At the end of the day I think we only need 4 max and most likely be 2 .unless anyone leaves.my priority order would be.
AM/winger -Son Lamela injuries show we are light quality in this area.sisoko nkoudou can go.1 in and promote Edwards hope Lamela fully recovers and we'd have 6 credible options then.
CB- poch appears to have little faith in wimmer,Dier is ok in a 3 and still unsure on Ccv.if Jan or Toby get injured I'm panicking.

Then possibly Striker if janssen not thought worth another season and possible CM playmaker to succeed dembele but then your blocking winks onomah.honestly think will be 2 in if nobody leaves.
Sorry prob all been said before but just needed to clarify it for myself haha

We have the time to be patient. We're basically still one of the only teams who could stand pat with our current squad and have a reasonable chance of improving.

Waiting until deadline day hurts them more than us. Barkley is a key player for them. If they sell him on deadline day, whatever the money, they risk not getting a suitable replacement. For us, Barkley would be an additional player - if we get him, great, if we don't then we're no worse off than last season.
