Good morning

Here's a new thread for the discussion of ITK. We didn't have enough bleach to clean the other one.

Barkley ticks all the boxes for a Spurs signing. We must be confident in getting this done.

My one worry would be Man City, we know they want to increase their english quota

The barkley info worries me, i think theres a decent player there and poch is defo the right man to get his full potential, however what worries me is that if he gets 100k a week from what he was offered at everton it would pee off a number of our existing players, as they are far more deserving of 100k than barkley.

Isn't that likely to happen with most of our new signings though? If we're competing to sign a player with another premier league team then wages are going to be high.

I guess we should discuss wages on this thread though http://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/index.php?threads/salaries.128756/

BEN on barkley again:
The one poch wants

Makes me think he's the number 1 summer target then. The kid clearly has ability and id certainly be happy to have him in the squad but would be slightly underwhelmed.

its clearly going to be a last day special too.

I think Barkley would be a very good signing. I just hope it wouldn't be Barkley or Lemar (or a similar type), we need both IMO.

I get why we are in for him - last year of contract, English, potential - but I can't understand why Poch likes him that much. He seems much more like a Levy signing to me. Meaning that he offers a potentially large upside on resale value while not risking a lot.

Ben's ITK makes sense. Poch is smart and learns from mistakes - he's spoken before about buying players used to the Prem league rather than from abroad. His greatest successes as signings have arguably been Toby, Wanyama, Davies and Trippier (although not all met with absolute enthusiasm from fans). Barkley fits this criteria.
Poch may have decided after the experience with Fazio, Stambouli, N'Jie and N'Koudou that buying from abroad is more of a risk.
