@spurs9

That sounds pretty definitive to me.

Much more so than those other quotes.

Case closed as far as I'm concerned.

Haha alright, I just hardly think they're any more indicative of his intentions he's said all along that he's made clear, that he wants to play in the Champions League. And like I said, it's late May, people say all kinds of shit that doesn't ce to be in September.

So to each their own, but I'm not about to go using these quotes as if they're the final indication of anything, especially when they're not really any more indicative of anything he hasn't already said recently.

These quotes from not even a week ago: http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...eady-to-pounce-for-Saints-Morgan-Schneiderlin

"For my progress and my visibility, it would be better to play for a club who play in the Champions League."

These from the end of March: http://nigezie.tv/arsenal-target-morgan-schneiderlin-wants-champion-league-action/

“I don’t want to be in front of the TV on Tuesday and Wednesday [nights]. It’s important, at 25-years-old to finally know the Champions League... Since then, I’ve had discussions with the leaders and I want to play at the highest level.

And yet, we've received ITK since both of those dates that, especially since the end of March, that Schneiderlin is open to coming to us. So nah, I'm not particularly bothered by these new quotes. Hell, it's entirely possible these quotes can be as simple as agent-directed rhetoric to get Levy to ante up n get on it. Just all sorts of possibilities. Either he comes or he doesn't, but there's a considerable amount of time between now and the end of August, much can happen in that time (including Schneiderlin working his way into the French squad in Euro qualifying, so not getting too hung up on whether he's playing Tuesdays or Thursdays), and I just don't view quotes made in May as end-all-be-all for transfer activity in the summer.

I suspect that if MS was to call a press conference tomorrow announcing that he has handed in a transfer request in order to play for a team in the CL many here would still doubt his true intentions.

There are all the quotes attributable to him stating he wants to play in the CL. We are not in it and our "level" is EL according to many.

Right mate, but everything you've said is the painfully obvious.

What you aren't taking into account is the fact he's been saying nearly this exact same stuff all along, yet multiple ITK are saying he's "open" to us. I'm no saying he will sign for us, I'm just saying these new quotes are hardly any new bona fide indication of anything we didn't already know, and I think the response disproportionate from any disparity in gravity between these quotes and old.

It's the end of May. People say all kinds of shit while many deals and offers are getting tossed about. Player quotes amidst such a time are hardly indication of anything final which may occur as much as over three months from now.

Itk...pinch of salt. Source could be wrong or hoping or misinformed. Remember Willian.... I enjoy Itk info but i tend to place greater gravitas on what a player or manager says.

Yes multiple Itk have suggested he is keen on us.....my feeling on this one though is that where there is smoke there is a fire. His comments suggest we may not be in his plans.

Willian might not be the best example. He was having a medical with us. No-one could have foreseen what happened.

I don't believe that Schneiderlin will sign for us.

But, it is worth noting that everyone at Spurs talks about CL as if we're kind of in it. He may well have the impression that SPurs are, in a way, a CL side or at least that it won't be long until we're finishing in the top four regularly - hell, that he'll be the "missing piece of the jigsaw". At Saints, even with him that'll never happen.

Call it delusional (I do), but reading MS's quotes, he may think that by signing for Spurs he is actually joining a CL side. From talking to Levy, Poch, Mitchell, etc, you would get that impression. Weirdos.

Maybe we could convince him we have cl ambitions. We'll see.

True but only one that came to mind but Benteke is another multiple Itk suggested he was keen. The point is not to bash Itk but merely to say we should not place the info as gospel. Things change better offers come along etc.

Oh trust me, I don't take ITK any more verbatim than you, and I think you're spot on it's entirely possible they may just be hearing rumblings that are generated by agents trying to shove around sounding out offers, but point is I'm not taking player quotes at this point as any more indicative of final events than ITK.

I really am no "Schneiderlin or we're fuct" junkie, I just place very little stock in player/manager/agent quotes in late May and don't think these new quotes are really all that more revealing than anything he's already said previously. Hell, he could say tomorrow that he misses Pochettino with all his body, heart, mind, and soul and I'd also tell you it means fuck all. ;)

The issue, as I see it, is the transfer fee. Even if Schneiderlin would come to us (like he wanted to last summer), there is a clear pattern in the last year that the club will not spend large amounts of money on any single player. The only way would be to have at least Lloris sold, and possibly another of our first choice players.

I think this is going to be an ongoing issue all summer and Jasper's ITK, coupled with things JJset has said in the past (go and see the words he used when it became clear we couldn't sign Welbeck last September), tells me that anyone thinking we'll spend 20+ million on a single player, is going to be disappointed in a few months.

It is not a matter of paying up. MS has said he has made his decision and will go to a champions league club. We are not in the Champions League.

Well if he wants to play in the CL and stay in the PL then his only option will be Arsenal.

I wish, but City apparently offered him 156k, which I don't think we would/could offer remotely close to.

We could offer a nice signing on fee spread over his contract. We did similar for Ade (gave city £5m). No ITK though so will leave it.
