The only thing making me think it's not a marquee signing is the fact the ITK said "most" of us would be happy about it. I think if they were referring to a marquee signing, the word "most" wouldn't be used as surely it would lift everyone's spirits and there wouldn't really be anyone displeased about it. Hopefully I'm wrong though as i feel a big signing would really do our confidence some good going into this tricky season at Wembley

Is that really the only thing making you think it's not a marquee signing?

I think people are setting themselves up for disappointment if they think we'll be making any marquee signings.

i wouldn't read too much into him saying 'most'. Grey Fox has been on here for years. He knows that its very unlikely that everyone would be happy even if we were to get a marquee signing.

Exactly. In today's market there's even less chance. We're never spending the £50m minimum required, and we're never spending the 150k a week.
It'll be either one of the right backs we've been linked with or a young relatively well known prospect. Don't think we're close or given up on Barkley, and that's where most of our transfer funds are aimed at.

JJ doesn't need to write anymore

A couple of emojis and we write 12 pages discussing what he meant
It's a bit like Jesus, isn't it?

And lo, Levy spoke unto the JJ and commandeth he tell the people the transfer truth. And the JJ obeyed and inscribed the truth upon the tablet of emojis. And the people were happy but knew not why

Since I read the Scottish accent post, I have been trying not to do the same but it's impossible now. Happy we're (probably) getting someone that most on here should be happy with

JJ Must sit back and laugh at this! The second meltdown and still no signings, but excitement growing again.

Why would it be so hush hush for an outgoing, or even more so for a contract extension? Bizarre interpretation.

Has to be an incoming where sensitivity is the order of the day as we wouldn't want someone swooping in and hijacking the deal ie Willian etc

JJ gave this a winner

I propose that we stop using words in this thread and just use emojis. My guess at the incoming player based on the likely reaction of SC is

:D :greedy: :wacky:
