I have no problem if we move forward with Kane as our only out and out striker if Poch believes Son and Chadli are capable. But if that is the case I hope Poch starts playing ether one of those two more regularly upfront. Kane has played far too many minutes and I can't see him playing another 30 odd games (if we progress in all comps) this season and still be able to do the required job.

I think the January transfer window should be scrapped. Start and finish the season with what you've got.
That then systematically screws over the international market for players, because not everyone's off-season transfer window is June-September.

The big European leagues share the same off-season and that's where most of the transfer activity happens. Perhaps exceptions could be made for other federations.

Another complaint might be that smaller clubs would suffer more with long term injuries to key players, a solution being to make sure you have a good youth system and promote from academies. Also, don't allow clubs to stockpile loanee players. Perhaps too the non-European leagues could be plundered in exceptional circumstances. Mix it up a bit.

Cannot believe how bad our chairman and management have performed during this window. I took over at spurs at 9pm tonight put the bins out in hurricane Henry and still managed to sign alcáer, tielemans, gayà, stones, varane, neves, embolo, sanches, ceballos, guedes and still have the time to drink beers. Embarrassing

A bit disappointed that we didn't get either Dembele or Maddison in - though with the insistence from Fulham on loaning Dembele back I can see why we didn't as the whole point would be to get someone in now.

I know seemingly huge amounts of people here will disagree with me but personally I would've really liked to see us snap up Charlie Austin. "He's too slow", "he's a twat", "he's not a Poch player" I know people will shout as they always do, but frankly for £4m I think Southampton have simply bought a guarantee of goals, which is a pretty precious commodity in the PL. Obviously Poch wasn't interested though and that's fair enough. I really hope we make the most of this opportunity this season though as I'm not convinced it'll come again.

What you're suggesting helps fortify the position of said big leagues, such that it would be very restrictive for any other region of the world to develop into a greater economic power in world football.

That's a very narrow-minded thing to put in place.

I don't agree, but I agree a little bit more than I did 24 hours ago. As much as it would pain me to see Austin at Spurs - he just feels all wrong for where we're at just now - I can't deny having him there would be a little bit comforting.

Yes, it is, but I only watch the PL. If my opinion counted for anything I would of course look at the bigger picture.

Plus he was asking for nearly double what Kane is on. 4m sounds cheap.... but the cost of the contract is well overs.

I shit you not, I just loaded that Free Agents list up on Transfermarkt and the first name on the list was Leandro Damiao! :D

Would you do the deal? If it was a 6 month with option for us I'd do that deal. For all the giggles this will cause, I still reckon there is a player somewhere in there.

So which is it, management and scouting team? Did we need a striker now, or didn't we?

If we did, then however we slice or dice the Chadli, Son, Lamela, Eriksen, Ali pie - we're still short. And it shows in the number of minutes that Kane has, and continues to play. So why didn't we have a plan?

If we didn't, then why not take the Dembele deal and loan him back?

Either way, it feels like a massive missed opportunity. Hopefully it doesn't come back to bite us like the #Spursy ways have tended to previously.

Dissapointing but not unexpected that we didnt back up the striking dept but we have to assume the club know better than any of us.
Although i still cant see kane going through until the end of the season injury free, he is bound to pick up a knock which will leave him out for a while which leaves us with son and chadli.

Just a little disappointed. In truth if the available options were seen to be not as good as we have already, there is no point in taking an inferior player for the sake of it.

To qualify as a really good window for us we have to first and foremost keep our best players - mission accomplished. I think that the club is generally very happy with the squad as it is. We have team harmony (not to be taken for granted) and the youngest squad in the league. I read somewhere on here someone say that if you don't strengthen by buying, you weaken. In most cases yes but as our squad is so young (and it is being coached well) then it will just get better. In two years time we will have a genuine shot at the title with this lot of we keep them together. So new contracts for the likes of Dembele and the others signed up recently are the most important thing. The general consensus on here was that this season we would do well to get top 6. On that basis we are having a fantastic season so lets chill, see where we end up and enjoy the next two/three seasons at least, moving into our shiny new stadium with some fantastic players who have matured and developed into a top class team.

Unfortunately I was right in my prediction that we would not sign a striker to train with the first team. My pledge of 50 quid is on its way.
