That is baffling. To me, he is the best player they have. Better than Ronaldo. Absolutely crucial to them and the best CM in Europe. If Modric wants to return and RM want to sell, we have to go in for him. Plus, Winks learning from Modric would be incredible. Oh god, I think I just convinced myself.

They NEED to raise money, as the likes of PSG, Citeh, pricing them out on players they would have a clear field because of their name. As I said, I do not at all expect it, same as Bale. But, RM trying to offload to bring in. Their wages alone is another factor.

I’d be all over bringing Modeic back. Bale I think would break us financially, and just seems (I might be wrong) to be injured too often. I’d rather a younger cheaper alternative.

But Modric would be incredible. Can’t see it personally

He can't be too pleased they want to sell him. He said he wants to retire there two weeks ago.

Great stuff, thanks @Hercules!

If I could pick one former player to return to us it would be Luka. However, if Madrid is selling to raise money I can't see us being the highest bidder unfortunately.

Regarding Toby, I get that players want to win titles. But this time I don't buy it. It's not like he's playing for West Ham or Newcastle. We have had the chance to win the league two years in a row. No one is stopping you Toby, just f**king win a title.

What he's really saying is that he wants to go to Man City, triple his wages and cruise to the title, because all the players who can stop him from winning it are sitting on the bench in a Man City track top, earning the same wage.

Me, bitter? Nah...

Apologies if I should not share this here, but Coutinho wants 100% our now!

His people have agreed everything with Barca, around 130m, but 110 now, with incentives clauses that increases it to 130, with clause to have buy-back option.

They tried again for Sess, but not happening.

£20m is next to nothing in todays market though.

I think it's high when you're paying for half a season and he hasn't proved fitness or full recovery from injury. In effect, it would be forking out 20m to stop him going somewhere else.

Agree. I'd take Modric over Ronaldo all day long. Ronaldo is great but it all has to be about him, can't stand the bloke and he's nowhere near the level he used to be.

£20m is next to nothing in todays market though.

Don't forget this is someone who is:
  • Out of contract at the end of the season
  • Has already expressed his desire to play for us rather than the only other club in for him i.e. Chelsea
  • Is just coming off the back of major injury/surgery, so we don't know if he'll be the same player he was
  • Even if he is still able to play at the same level, it will probably take until mid-way through the second half of the season to return to full fitness/match sharpness
We'd basically be paying 20m purely so that we could play him in the last 10 games of the season or so. For me that's ridiculous.
