The better a squad is, and ours lest we forget is one of the six best in this country and 15 best in Europe, the harder it is for academy players to get a look in as they have to show a higher level of performance to get a game for us than at most other clubs. I don't question Poch's willingness for a second, especially given his record at So'ton.
But you do have to question him to some extent with regards to KWP. His last starting performance saw him getting MOM, then he’s not even made the bench since. It’s a strange scenario whichever way you look at it.

Good idea. Using white font in the ITK thread has never caused any problems in the past as @Hot Spur would no doubt testify.

:cautious:
He the dude who lost his shit last summer over white font, then lost it some more when he got ribbed for losing his shit in the first place? Man, that be sick.
Also, why the fuck am I trying to speak like I'm in The Wire?

Taking Hercules' ITK in the round I am becoming more confident that as a club we understand the watershed moment this summer represents.
Modric and Bale coming back would be very nice indeed, the fact that it seems to be at least a topic of conversation represents a new paradigm, talk of lots of sponser activity and making of statements gives me enormous grounds for optimism, it seems that the stadium may not be the only new thing this year, maybe a whole new approach is comingour way.
Ok so it may well be that my optimism knows no bounds but I can't help feeling like there's a bit of a paradigm change.

Apologies if I should not share this here, but Coutinho wants 100% our now!

His people have agreed everything with Barca, around 130m, but 110 now, with incentives clauses that increases it to 130, with clause to have buy-back option.

They tried again for Sess, but not happening.

you mean Liverpool tried for sess again?

Not really when he's got 2 very experienced players ahead of him in both his natural position and secondary position. It would be more surprising to me if a 20 year old was able to get ahead of both Trippier and Aurier to be honest.

Also regarding his MOTM performance, it was one game again poor opposition and therefore no reflection of whether he would routinely be good enough to start for us. Poch sees him every day and that is surely a better reflection of how good he is than one game in isolation.

Also I think most people who saw the game would agree that the MOTM award was pretty overly generous and given to him more symbolically than deservedly, Eriksen was much better in that game.

Thank you Hercules. Really interesting stuff. With regards to Barkley - if we do sign him this window I wonder whether that is so he can be moulded and acclimatised to the club over the next few months with regards to pre season and next season rather than the prospect of having an impact this season ?

I think it's high when you're paying for half a season and he hasn't proved fitness or full recovery from injury. In effect, it would be forking out 20m to stop him going somewhere else.

Looking at it another way, we'd be forking out £20m for a £50m+ player.

Assuming he gets back to the player he was. Far from certain. But I do think worth the risk.

Sessegnon has scored twice for Fulham tonight, got to sign this kid at all costs...!
Herc's info on him from earlier about us wanting to bring him in now and his brother in the summer is very interesting considering Rose's new knee injury. I wonder if his injury has prompted the club to try to get this done now instead of waiting until summer.

Thanks @Hercules.

I did laugh at the ‘oh and by the way I forgot to mention Real are talking to us about Bale and Modric wants to come back’.

That’s a bit like saying to the Mrs ‘the trains were delayed today, I forgot to post that letter, oh and by the way I won the lottery’.

Not sure how I feel about bale, and to a lesser extent, Modric coming back. To me it's like an ex dumping you when you're an unemployed bum and then as soon as you get a job, start dressing nice and their relationship with the ultra successsful prick goes downhill they come crawling back

Never go back, we should be looking forward rather then these players who are on the decline and will have no resell value so we're left with a crocked bale on huge wages. If we want to make a statement then go for the next bale: someone like pulisic or sessegnon

That is baffling. To me, he is the best player they have. Better than Ronaldo. Absolutely crucial to them and the best CM in Europe. If Modric wants to return and RM want to sell, we have to go in for him. Plus, Winks learning from Modric would be incredible. Oh god, I think I just convinced myself.
Madrid have always thought about image as opposed to the players who actually 'make them tick'. They don't just want to be the best club in the world, they want to be the richest, most supported, etc etc. Modric only helps so much with that.

It won't happen obviously but if you want to try and win a league next season spending decent money to bring back Modric is something you'd do. Even at 32 he's still in my opinion the best CM in the world. Putting him into this team would take us to a level we've not yet seen. Can't see why on earth Madrid would get rid though as at 32 he'd surely not bring that much money in for transfers anyway.

I agree with what you are saying, but I do think we need a 'big player' to help us realise our dream of winning things. Sessegnon will take a few years to reach that kind of level, so I think we can certainly have Bale and Sessegnon in our ranks. I think we can look forward and go back at the same time.
