Work colleague of mine is a big Palace fan and has always said we massively offended Zaha and his people by offering him around £45k a week and how low the supposed bid was. You'd think people understand that's how business negotiations work but it's always a risk if you try and lowball.
Maybe Poch gives them the big love and then Levy acts like he'd be doing everyone a favour by taking the player on!
Another positive aspect of signing Modric/Bale, players who may be looking to leave may decide not to as they believe it's the calibre of player that can help the team win stuff. I'm not into this transfer frenzy like your United and Chelsea fans are but I do believe we need a 'winner' these two are 'winners'
This. The costs have gone through the roof, compared to what we will have forecast, granted.
But people don’t seem to realise how long we’ve actually been saving/financing this stadium for. We started paying for it A LONG TIME before the first set of drawings came out and we haven’t been spending all that TV money on transfers.
I’ve no doubt that we’re on a comfortable financial footing for when we move in, which will allow us to greater compete on both fees and wages. Obviously not to the figures the likes of Citeh can, but im sure we’ll be a lot closer to Liverpool when we compete for players.
