You’re right of course but it would be nice to hear that there are some unsellables in our squad despite an OTT offer.

Poch said Kane has no price because he's not for sale. As simple as... Levy at this moment in time will refuse offers even as high as £300 ml. That's all we need to know. But if you continue to read transfer gossip I would not be surprised some fans are not going to be 100% convinced. That's the power of press over people's mind.

Versus the power of blind faith? Maybe people come to conclusions based on past experience?

Do managers always tell the truth at press conferences - you know like Bale is not for sale?

Where is the evidence that Levy will turn down £300m? Do you have an extract if the minutes from the last board meeting?

Surely missing out on top 4 is unthinkable this season and will have repercussions

Totally agree, but very possible. City are there, Chelsea look extremely likely, Liverpool look like (subject to Coutinho staying) they’re in a good place too, and we’ve got a fair amount of catching up with Utd to do.

So all in all it’s a tough situation. We’ve improved of late, for sure, and we’re getting some good players back from injury.

I can’t help thinking a couple of additions would help the squad dynamic though and add some options to the first XI.

We can’t afford to drop silly points given the competition for the top 4

1st ITK of the window and us dreaming of Malcom or some other superstar has just had our dreams shattered.

The better we get the more boring each window gets.

I would still like levy to go and buy a real world beater and give us a boost to get CL this season.

Umm.. yeah I think about half the team would leave if there is no Champions League next season. Silly thing is, it is up to those players to fight to get into the Champions league. It's like they have all forgotten that or something.

Really pissed off if it is accurate that we are so reluctant to do signings in January. Yes yes yes I know I hear it every winter. January is hard January is expensive January is difficult. I don't give a fuck. I question whether those who are in the thick of it day in and day out really understand exactly what kind of margins we'll be looking at for the 2nd half of this season, in terms of eg. top 4. 1 ultra decisive signing could really make our PL campaign, and add gravitas for CL. I think it is bullshit timing to say anything less than "We are going to secure one important, long standing, match fit target in January".

It's hard to buy these players in the summer too.

Absolute bollocks! Players have contracts. There is no way in hades we would allow half the team to leave.

Normally I’m understanding as to why we’re rarely active during this window.

January is always more expensive than the summer, however at the rate transfers are skyrocketing, players values are going up double digit millions from one window to the next and come the summer £50m will be the new £35m.

This means that we should and other clubs will seriously rethink their strategy towards the Jan transfer window. Waiting no longer means you’ll get a better deal, Zaha’s value as an example has probably gone up £10m in each of the last couple of windows.

I’m not suggesting we throw £100m around because we can’t, but do believe that we’re capable of bringing someone in to give us a shot in the arm.

Maybe our long term targets aren't available for a reasonable price, meaning we either throw a stupid sum at them or settle for a Sissoko.

I can just picture the salesman wringing his hands and bumping up the ticket prices as you enter the forcourt, declaring "Today, i'm buying a car!"

Spot on regarding the OTT bid. I know Zaha said he’s staying but don’t be shocked if we go for him this window. Parish is more open to a deal than some may believe.
Wish we had done this properly in the summer. Trouble is this will send out all the wrong messages to their fans and also be dangerous for stability. Love t see it but just can’t see it happening - unless Roy needs, and is promised, the £50m it will now cost.

Poch has already said that he will only sign players he wants, not cheaper substitutes, (my paraphrasing).

I thought players needed the pre-season training to be properly up to speed with Poch's system and work rate.
Maybe another reason, on top of the higher prices, to leave buying until the summer.
Just need to get it done earlier in the close season.

I’m still convinced HK wants to be part of the team playing the first game at new WHL

This, HK will stay as long as HE wants. If he starts playing up asking for a move then a decision will have to be made.

The only question I would have with that statement is do we think the prices fir players will really be cheaper in 7 mnths ?
Because to me they just keep getting sillier every window vvd will that now be the new benchmark price for a good cb ?
At the rate transers are going average to shit players are going to be 30 40 mill by the summer
(Thanks to all the financially doped clubs)
And the sad desperate ones (liverpool)

He’s always said that yet we’ve ended up with Sissoko, Nkoudou, Njie, Stambouli etc etc since he joined.

Who knows. It's not as simple as everyone's price rising all the time. We got Aurier in the summer for 23m or so. Would he have been cheaper in the Jan before when presumably PSG weren't willing to sell? Contracts run down, situations change, players fall in and out of favour or discover a rich vein of form. Far too many variables involved.
