What 'name'?

was reading between the lines on herc's post about making a statement with the new stadium, sponsors, etc, etc. Would fit that we'd add a big name player/prospect to that list. Just having a big sponsor/money won't impress many people, making a statement with a top player/prospect would.

Or Utd.

They'd be all over him like a fat kid on a cup cake.

Desperate for a player like him of which there aren't many around.
you think Pogba would be happy to have another high end CM in the club. could be bad for the brand.

I assume people did take note of the "I 99.99% do not believe this one will happen" part of Hercules post right?

Ross Barkley this window is a must. Sessegnon would be the cherry on top.

Little known fact, the SC servers are powered on the hopeless optimism and inevitably unseen wishes of its users. Every ITK transfer rumor that the community latches onto and doesn't materialize increases the site's power.

What was the last? Mario Gotze?

People should stop getting excited over the idea of Bale and Modric coming back. It would probably take at least 100 mil to get them back and we are not going to spend that on a perma crooked soon to be 29 year old and 32 year old CM no matter how good they are or how much we would like it. It would be lovely to see them both back and could well be the missing piece but for how long? Two seasons maybe? Then we will have to come terms with starting the search again. As much as I hate to say it, it’s probably a bad move. But i guess it’s only a bad move if our scouts can find somebody younger who could become as good and I don’t know if I trust our ability to find quality attackers let alone sign them.

Modric would bring unquestionable quality, vast experience and the know how of winning the games biggest prizes, all things our young squad are crying out for.
It takes the Naybet and Parker signings to a whole other level! May even be on a par with Micky Hazards second spell at the club.

We have first option on Kluivert of Ajax, and couple more players interest us in Holland, with another also at Ajax.

Poch has good relationships with peeps of Mahrez, and they have been pushing him in our direction. Doubt we will deal at fees it is believed Leicester would want.

Back Poch is my advice!

Thanks for all the information Hercules! The Mahrez information particularly stood out to me, I would love Mahrez to join us, he has the ability to turn a game on its head within a split second and is a player who can really get the crowd off their seats.

Would love this deal to somehow be made but I've learned not to keep my hopes up now!

Great news if Chelsea don't want Barkley this window though. I think if he's going to wait until the summer then we will sign him on a free transfer.

Who would be unhappy with Modric? I'd much rather have Modric back for a few seasons to tutour Winks than get Bale - assuming we can only afford one.
Those who feel Modric turned his back on us by the way he left. Personally I am not one of those but I know a good few think like that

Surely though, if Madrid want to raise cash to buy the best new players, us buying Bale and/or Modric from them puts them in a nicer position to be offering for Kane and Dele? There's that old connection that works out well for us again.

I would love them both back, and Toby to sign a new deal, and Sess, and Barkley, and Mahrez, and Fekir.. I also want to win the lottery and save the world dressed as Batman.

RB and RS are certainly the players we should nail down. The liikes of Zaha or Mahrez would be great but seem much more tricky deals to do.

Modric --- no thank you.....for 40 million would rather see the investment made elsewhere to be honest

Not that it'll happen but those two signings would probably win us the league in one of the next two seasons. It depends how much we want to win the league or if we want to sign young players, develop them possibly not win anything and have an almighty fight keeping them from leaving.
Yes 40m for a 32 year old is huge but what if that's the difference between winning something or not, imagine how much Winks, TOB and Skipp will learn from him in training and how much it might help them progress and develop.

We've got a team full of fantastic young players, some really talented youngsters coming through too. Vertonghen doesn't have long left before declines though and Toby is going to take some serious signs we're ready to win the league. This is a golden chance having all these players at the same time, personally I would much rather spend big on absolute guarantees right now to add to this group than buy players who need developing and by time they do we need to replace others. And so on.
