being Irish I see a good bit of McCarthy & trust me he's bang average, doesn't even stand out in an unbelievably shit Irish side.

for what he would cost, at least 15m and probably closer to the 20m mark, you would have to be looking to get a lot better I am afraid

Do you mean looking to bring 2 CMs in or just looking at 2 in case 1 is unobtainable?

2 regardless. My nose tells me that if Dembele goes too as well as Capoue and Pauli then we are way short of experience and depth. I just think it's likely that we are looking at options for 1 and for 2, one in if Dembele doesn't go, 2 in if he does. I can see more midfielders leaving based on the over reliance of Mason and Bentaleb, even in situations that doesn't required them or when they could be rested. I just hope we make the right moves and exceed the bar by buying someone better than Mason and Bentaleb. Despite their nativity they held it down last year and gave us much to be positive about.

Don't be obtuse. It has to be someone. It would be nice if JJ were to clarify matters.
Of course has to be someone, but not everyone is an option. It's obviously not TA nor Bartra as they are defenders and he was talking about CM - not that difficult to grasp.

That would leave us over stacked IMO, as we would have 2 x new CMs, Bentaleb, Mason, Stambouli, Alli and Carroll which makes 7 players for 2 positions and that's even not taking into account players like Veljkovic, Winks and Onomah who are capable of being 5th choice (look how few injuries we had last season).

The original point of the post was to clarify which player that JJ had denied was coming to Spurs but is now still being considered. Do you have an answer to that question? (And, yes, it might include the two defenders mentioned as the Club might consider using either as a defensive midfielder).

I'd prefer to bring on one experienced CM which is probably enough with Mason, Bentaleb, Carroll and Alli, with both Mason and Bentaleb having pretty much one fill PL season behind them, and Carroll has had a good taste of PL.

Stambouli could be kept, and that's probably better than bringing in a 2nd new CM, but we've then got 6 CM's for 2 places. Carroll could go, but even that leaves 5 CM's (without counting numerous good youngsters coming through.

So overall I can't see 2 new CM's brought in - we have a lot of depth in that area even if all of Capoue, Paulhiino, Dembele and possibly Stambouli leave and one experienced CM comes in

I see your point, but were in Europe so likely 2 games a week, and it would be reasonable for a quality 4, so Bentaleb Suarez/ Rabiot Mason. If Tom C stays (pls pls pls) I see him as immediate back up to #10 as in Malaysia. Onomah Winks Velkocic are backs to those 4, can see a 2-3 of them loaned out.

I think this is why we are seeing many links to midfielders, some of different ilk. Rabiot/Suarez as an example. The ITK on McCarty means we have had links (ITK) on MS, Rabiot, other MS, Imbula, McCarthy, the Polish Dude, Kramer. I think as a club/coach/management/ technical management/DOF we remain flexible as to how this ends up. If we get a more defensive midfielder it may free Bentaleb for more forward play, or if we go with a passer /interceptor like Rabiot Bentaleb may remain deeper with discipline. Who knows though. Personally if we only bring in one I would like Suarez, mainly for grit and attitude. We do have a ton if talent coming through the accademy though and I wish that more than signings, it's a nice problem that we have 2 accademy midfielders in pole, with 4/5 midfielders on the cusp of very promising careers to the lane.

I think Alli, Carroll & Veljkovic are all good enough for the Europa league, so we could have New CM & Bentaleb/Mason & Alli, Carroll & Veljkovic (who can also cover CB). I think Pritchard will be back up #10

I expect us to get a couple of little gems from the continent this window.
Cannot see us spending greater that about 12m on any individual. I'm happy with that.

Unless Soldado finds his shooting boots and we decide to keep him, and maybe even if he does, Kane's going to need some help this season. We need someone else to help with some goals on a regular basis and that's gonna be hard to find for around £12m quid.
I don't think that we need to get that much in this summer but someone to chip in up front, and to give us another option is a must. I'd like to see Lamela up front more and of course it all depends on Poch's tactics but... I don't want to lumber too much on Kane.

He has called everything right so far this window with regards to all his clients. He just said Kono to Sevilla for instance.

The general rule of thumb for me is, if someone refers to themselves as an agent on Twatter, they are usually full of shit. However, I never go on there and he doesn't have "agent" in his username, so I'll be buggered if I know tbh.
