To be fair we've been linked with Shaw. Moreno, Rojo, Marcelo, Nagatomo, Blind, Ben Davies and Bertrand in recent weeks and we have actually added no one in either position

It doesn't really matter much to me what order we buy players we need as long as we get them and I wouldn't want us missing the opportunity to add a CB we want where a deal can be done simply to sign a LB first.

Obviously it would be nice to tie up all the players we want as soon as possible but invariably some will take longer than others

Sorry I should have explained. I meant from the ITK clan

I'd imagine if decent money was offered both Dawson and Kaboul would be sold. My money would be on Lovren and Moreno being the 2 potential targets. Quite a lot of media stories linking them.

To those who are saying it isn't 'exciting ITK' etc etc, i've taken your comments on board and will, in future, dress the ITK up with a few knife fights, a series of large explosions, some base jumping on a tricycle, a car chase, an earthquake scene, some gravity defying stunts, an erupting volcano, Roger Moore's raised eyebrow and a muscle bound yokel in a bandana rampaging through the jungles of SE Asia armed with a machete and a great big fuckoff machine gun. I can only apologise and tell you that we'll try to do better.

To the very, very few of you who have taken it as it is, along with the realisation that although it isn't much, its maybe a sign that things are picking up, I salute you.

As one of those, I apologise. My observation was simply related to why it didn't spark up conversation. Not knocking the itk

Surely not the base jumping on a tricycle again, now if you were to do the base jumping on Roger Moore's raised eyebrow..........;)

I am sad to report that despite being around several airports in the UK and the Caribbean I did not encounter any ITK opportunities

I did see one of A&C's dwarfs though, in a mankini

Very touchy. Any comment good or bad about the ITK we are getting is clearly not a slight on the site or administrators. Just because a piece of ITK is crap doesn't me we don't appreciate the forum providing it all the same. And being a discussion forum are we not allowed to be unenthused by some of the news?

Let me correct my behaviour....

Thank you oh great one for this ground breaking snippet of ITK gold. I'm so excited at the prospect that we are looking to sign football players in positions.

If you're not enthused with the ITK just don't bother to comment. We're here to discuss the ITK not question the actual quality of it.

Pretty simple really.

There are 23,743 members/staff on this forum, many of whom make inane, stupid, irrelevant comments amongst those that do the opposite and this is the one person you choose to get sarcastic with?

I think that Verts could be off, my guess is Verts and Kaboul off. Verts hasn't really enhanced his reputation this season nor will playing LB in Brazil help that but I imagine he'd still fetch enough to cover two reasonable priced incoming CB's, allowing we have a few mill from Livermore and JD sales already in the kitty I imagine we'd still have funds over even if we paid a premium for say Lovren or Garay as one of the two

I hate to say it but I think your logic is quite sound. Especially as we keep being linked with left sided cb's.

Ability and Pochetino's system logic would dictate Dawson being shown the door first but I get a horrible feeling the heirachy think of him like we would a favourite old spaniel who continually shits on the carpet, you know he needs to be put down, but every time he looks at you with those dopey eyes you just can't bring yourself to do it.

I wouldn't mind Vert going. Used to consider him on the back of my shirt, but now I feel he is the one who has to earn my support... He can't help being slow, but he can do something about his body language and effort!

Two CB's in may sound weird, but it was a real problem-position for us last season, so me like.

And please please let us get ITK on konoplyanka :chicken:

While I certainly agree it's worth noting that we've been linked with primarily LCB's this summer, I cannot fathom a club willing to pay what Levy would ask for Vertonghen would do so after the season he's just had in regard to his mentality. Ever since @Barry Mead made the point a couple days ago in another thread, I've gone back and forth because of this reason.

My guess though at the moment is we're looking at moving both Dawson and Kaboul on. They've already become liabilities, and will only become more so with the demands Poch's tactics place on the situation. I think we're looking at bringing Lovren in to pair Verts for first choice, and Moreno to compete with Verts thereby allowing Vlad to slide back to his natural position to press Lovren. Everyone plays their natural position, and that's an extremely athletic CB corps capable of handling the unique stress of Poch/Bielsa tactics.

I don't think Caulker's coming back. If we wanted him, I think we'd have done it by now.

I'm certain we'll have 5 CBs next season. It was the second biggest squad error last season to agree to AVB's preference to only having 4. (the biggest obviously being only having Danny Rose as LB)

It may be hard to give game time to all 5, which is why having an older, experienced head who knows they won't play much as that 5th choice makes sense. Gallas played the role well. And even Nelsen made sense in that regard (if no others).
