Just been speaking to someone who gets info. ;)

Anyways, this may go some way to explaining how the ITK with so much detail may be right. (re Illieremendi)

He says that a deal has been agreed as a late option for loan should we miss out on our top target AND Illieremendi doesnt agree anything else with a Champions League club.

Self explanatory I know, but suggests that Bender or Kramer still higher on the list of targets

Just seen Ryans info from this morning (Thanks Ryan) and noticed that there's no mention of Liverpool anywhere :).

Not that simple mate, sometimes even in football money has to take a backseat to doing the right thing. I honestly think Ade has more chance of playing for us again than Lennon does, and that really is saying something.
having just googled lennon and seen the nightclub story - am guessing that is the reason and if so am VERY proud of the club

The selling club will hold on to their asset as long as they can to try and eek as much value out of it as possible. The Chairman's statement was a come and get me plea to the oligarchs and the sheikhs. They will eventually sell to us when they see that there are no better offers out there.

Until then, unless we offer their inflated valuation of the player, we're stuck in a stalemate. I have no doubt this will resolve itself in our favour. We get our player they get a reasonable fee - and I don't think I'd want it any other way.

What happens if I ring up West Brom and tell them I'm calling on behalf of Man City and offer them £5m for Berahino? Do you think they'll ring Levy back tomorrow and take the offer?

Chill out fella, I know exactly where we are in the food chain and I don't expect us to be spending 100m on a player. The itk's have stated that SB is happy to come, so we could have had this done and dusted by now.

Again you have shown that you have missed the point.

Clearly, please explain it to me

I can understand wba holding out as long as possible, but he haven't even reached an agreement with them over a fee

Bit of depressing tone ITK from @Grey Fox . But IMO a realistic one.
I wonder , if JJ is still optimistic that we will have a squad to compete for top4

Yep our current situation is exactly the same as Leeds all those years ago. Uncanny. In no way is this a lazy cliché rolled out every other day without any consideration of context.

The over-arching principle is that Leeds spent beyond their means based on income from future Champions League qualification (that then didn't happen). How is that different?

Leeds went 5th, 4th, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 15th, Relegated. Never to return in the subsequent 11 years. From regular Euro/CL position to fucked in two seasons.

When did JJ say he was optimistic about top 4?

Seems pretty obvious we aren't good enough for top 4. Yeah anything can happen but people should not be hoping for that as it's unrealistic.

Well yes, that's the point. The offer on the table is not acceptable at the minute but probably will be in a week's time when thy realise it's us or no-one.

Why are people losing their shit?

Levy came out and said after an early flurry of signings business would be done late. I'm delighted with what I've seen of the new boys so far and think they will be good signings, we've shifted a load of deadwood and trimmed the fat.

I'd rather we set our targets high with players than sign any old garbage and be back here in another year clearing another bloated squad.
It's clear some of the irk linked players have options and want to see what options they have. Would you marry the first girl who hops in bed with you? These are classy players who need convincing and have lots of suitors, I am confident the powers that be are working on selling the club to these top players and have a plan b if we can't convince them. We won't end the window with just HK up top as an option. Be patient.

You are missing the point dude, people are frustrated because we haven't got a back up to Kane, no DM and we are into our 3rd game of the season and we have dropped 5 fricken points out of 6....Gettit!!

And what BS about setting targets high. They have been all over the place. Evans and Hernandez are high? Kramer and Bender and the Spanish dude were ungettable from the get go so in that instance we set our fricken targets way too high. Fricken' dreamland buddy! And now we are going for Wanamana or whatever his f***ing name is. Couldn't we have done that in pre-season?

And to be frank, I am not that enamored by Berahino either. He is lightweight and probably someone who will play alongside Kane not back him up. We need a solid CF who can lead the line if Kane breaks down which is quite possible as he will be targeted by every CB combo we play against this season.

I imagine it runs a lot deeper than that and for a lot longer. Lennon probably took up a lot of management time to try and get him moving in the right direction, but at some point enough is enough.

Let's face it. It's been years since he was a threat. Such a shame, he could have been some player.....

He did say the targets we are looking at makes him optimistic that we will have a squad end of window that has good chance to compete for top4 (he didnt say we will get into top4. Just said we will be competitive).
If you are asking me to show exact comment...sorry, its difficult to sift through 2 months of threads

Hmmmmm sometimes I feel people like yourself like a flashy unknown new signing and see it as more exciting, which in truth it is. However both Evans and Hernandez are proven prem league performers, in fact proven trophy winners. A winning mentality is something we certainly lack. How have flashy signings from overseas worked out for us over the last two years mate?

Bender and Kramer unlikely I agree but there must have been some encouragement or I don't think we'd have invested so much time in it.

Finally we don't necessarily know who all of the targets are do we? I'm not privy to that info. You seem happy to knock out known and reported targets but who would you suggest?

Not just WBA but SB as well I imagine.... let's face it if City or United came in at this poiint he would be earning double the wages and be in a CL team.

That is unless playing football is his main target. The Spurs offer will be agreed before deadline day, but I imagine SB and WBA will wait as long as they can to complete the deal.

The itk on SB has been doing the rounds for a while now, but we only make a bid this week. if we had made a strong bid weeks ago we'd have been a lot further along and at that point if wba or SB said they wanted to wait on other offers i don't have a problem with that, but we haven't done that , we've wanted until the last 2 weeks of the window which doesn't give us much wiggle room

OMG! Levy's not buying a striker so we'll have to rely on Ade again all season as back up! Damn Levy!

(Am I misinterpreting right?)

With today's income from TV spending twenty five million or even thirty is hardly putting the club at risk given the fact that (i think i am right in saying) an additional forty million is on the table for each club. Or are you suggesting that Stoke City can now outspend us?
