IMO £40m isn't totally beyond us. £40m is the new £30m and we paid that last season for Sissoko. Extra TV money, increased PL prize money, new sponsorship deals, CL money + £80m in player sales adds up to a fair bit. We have to be slightly cautious with the new stadium to pay for (even though that'll be paid by long term loans and naming rights) but nevertheless we could stretch to £40m for the right player I reckon.
I agree but I think if we were to spunk 40 on someone it wouldn't be on Mahrez.

I like Hertyids updates today. The rollercoaster.

It is not about whether its beyond us. If Everton can spend these millions, we can afford. I just dont think we will spend that much money.

If it was just down to TV money, yeah. But remember Everton now have big money rolling them.

We see our ITKs time & again reminding how little our business will be ...I just feel for this season, we are not going to spend big money on 1 player. Next season in new stadium may be different prospect.

I think you've missed his point.

He's not saying we can't afford £40m, just that it's not likely DL is willing to pay that much.

But then why even be "interested" when we blatantly know what the price / wages would be for a player such as Mahrez

Lol he just said he found it funny that we lost a 2-0 lead as he expected us to beat chelsea that night, hardly ridiculing us.

In that time it was. This is only a side issue. Players are professionals, they will get on with it. But Poch & our scouting team look at every single aspect when getting a player - last thing they would want is to upset the team morale.

Personally, I have no problem with Mahrez. I can't see this happenning mainly from a financial perspective

I am being very thick...probably but where is the donate page ?

It's dead easy to set up a monthly donation of say £3 if you can afford it?
Rather than a one off £36 then you don't notice it so much, that's what i've been doing.

If we're looking at King/Mahrez/etc in addition to Barkley then we're gonna have some nice attacking options on the bench next season.

Especially once Lamela is fit again.

As much as I like him as player, Mahrez will not happen for multiple reasons
a) Fee; Can't see Leicester selling him for less than 40m. No way we are going to give 40m. Max we may go is 30 to 35m.
b) Wages ; He is already on 100k a week. Very remote he is happy with around same
c) Mahrez after winning league, ridiculed us. Not sure, if Poch would be willing to make a splash on a player who may potentially cause unrest within the group.

c) is irrelevant. They are supposed to be grown men ffs.

Agreed. Walker took the p*ss out of City on twitter a few years ago too and it hasnt exactly been an issue...

I would argue b) wages are also not a huge stumbling block as we would probably add enough creative bonuses in there to ensure that he earns the same (or slightly more) at Spurs as he currently does- pretty sure he'd rather be earning that money here than wating away in mid table at Leicester.

I think I have to remind you what club you are supporting.
There is no way in all the galaxies that there is even one world in which there is a Tottenham which would sign Barkley AND King/Mahrez. We are talking about a list of players, out of which only one will be signed.

Otherwise, I'm not surprised. An RB in, attacking option in addition, not instead of Janssen, and play kids more than before. That's what I've pictured as our best case scenario.
