We have 7 home grown, of whom 4 (Kane, Rose, Winks, Walker-Peters) are club products, while Alli, Davies and Trippier were trained at other clubs in the same football association (so includes Swansea). We need a minimum of 8 (of whom at least 4 must be club products) to field a full 25 man squad in the CL. I believe we can currently put out a 23 man squad, as for every HG player short we have to omit a non-HG player, but it's possible we could be at 24 if I've misunderstood that rule.

Alli and Walker-Peters were U21 last season, I believe, but now have to be counted in the full squad.

I will consider only UCL rule because of the rule tougher than premier Homegrown rules

At the moment
Club Trained quota (min should be 4)
= Kane Rose Winks

(While players who born since 1 Jan 1997 like KWP or CCV or Onomah can count in list B quota)

Associated Trained quota
Dele Trippier

This quota we need another 2 AT players max like Grelish and Zaha

For non CT & AT quota
We can register 17 players max

At the moment we have 20 players for this quota includes Davies Dier or Foyth (who born after 1 Jan 97 but register with us less than 2 years)

That mean we could shift out at least 3 players for this quota

The best possibility to manage quota at the moment will could be

3 CT players (plus KWP, CCV or Onomah in case we get rid Rose next season)

4 AT players (buy 2 new AT players)

& Maximum 17 non CT & AT

Isn't he home grown for Premier League though? I'm sure it's only in the Champions League that he's not classified as a home grown player but I could be wrong on that one

No Dier is non HG player both premier & Uefa rules

While Davis is HG player for Premier but cannot count to be AT quota for Uefa because Swan registered with Wales Association

One reason we haven't heard about incomings may be that once they are announced, the potential buyers of our deadwood know we HAVE to sell, and so will hold out for cut rate prices.

Of course, another reason would be that we have nothing in the works.

I'd rather just be rid of the deadwood at any cost and promote youth in to fill any holes after we've completed our signings. The issue with HG players is that we need at least one incredibly good CM into the club and there are no HG CMs of that quality, let alone available. We need to be very smart about how we do this or we'll end up with a bunch of average English players who aren't better than what we already have and that just won't cut it when you want to compete for the title, play CL football and charge your fans up to £2K for a season ticket. I'm fine with improving depth if it's to replace the likes of Vinny, Llorente, GKN, Sissoko, etc. but we need to actually improve the first team as well because we didn't come close last year, other team's around us are improving and we'll find ourselves in trouble if a first-team player gets injured. We spent on Sanchez so I know we can and are willing to spend on good players with potential but I'd hope that that was just the first of many. At the moment it is unfortunately looking a tad bleak given what the ITKs are saying.

The HG quota was fine last year when we were in the CL and nothing changed, so how does it all of a sudden become the sticking point to all of our deals.

If anything the need to sell foreign players is what should be holding us back from buying players. Selling Sissoko and Llorente opens up 2 spots that allow us to replace them with anyone foreign or domestic and that should be our priority right now, not being ripped of on home grown players with inflated prices.
