We all know what a stubborn little fucker Levy is, but I just don't see how he can get away without giving Poch what he wants this summer. Poch has more than earned the right to be backed.

Based on the ITK, if there's ever going to be a transfer that forces Levy to break the mould it will probably be this one.

If Pochettino really wants him and if it's done because of a promise made to Poch, Kane Dele, Eriksen in signing new deals etc then ultimately it's the right thing to do. It's a risk but we can't risk upsetting the guy that should be in this job for the next 10 years. Hugely overpriced but could end up being money well spent to keep things moving forward ultimately.

Ultimately Levys a great business man that I'm sure will way up the risk/ reward and finer details of it all short/ medium and long term for our club. I wonder how this endeavour will end

Clarification on Zaha. As papers are saying; only player/s exchange and cash. You can imagine the list of players. We have our minimum value on players we are prepared to let go, either straight sale, or exchanges. We value Zaha around 55m mark.

I can’t see it myself happening, due to past negotiation tactics and history our end. Going to the wire won’t cut it, and likely to fail (opinion) as Palace holds the cards. Poch wants the deal. It was either Martial or Zaha. We did explore another option, but very difficult to deal with agents of a certain player overseas.

This is where I wonder how it will play out if Poch does not get his player, seeing Martial and another in that department hit the buffers.

Over to you Daniel.

I genuinely always laugh at people who say “just spend the money and get the player”, because it’s fairly obvious that real life isn’t like Football Manager unless you’re being bankrolled by oil money.

However, if the above is the case, Levy needs to do it in this instance.

If Pochettino really has signed his new deal based on such promises, it will cost Levy a lot more in the long run if he does not fulfil them this time IMO.

Zaha would be a good signing and add something different to the squad. He played as a striker in parts of last season too so would add a good rotation option for Kane.

That being said...if our two options were Martial and Zaha and we knew our budget would be tight then the question has to be asked about our scouting department. There must be alternatives in Germany, Spain or Italy. Yes they have risks attached as they come from abroad but also likely cheaper.

We cant speak too soon but with a few weeks to go, its looking like same old spurs.

If Poch doesnt get what he wants this summer, he wont fall for it again next summer and will likely be off at the end of the season.

So Levy needs to step it up.

So Poch most likely not getting what he wants due to Levy being a fuckwit? Who would've seen that one coming

The way I see this is Levy has no option he promised Poch the signing so pay the money. Irrelevant of what we value Zaha at the price is what Palace value him at. £65m imho will get him if they value him at £70m so pay it! Levy is at risk of screwing everything up here. Poch gave that big speech in May seems like Levys paid no attention he's clearly haggling over the Grealish deal. As Spurs fans we go through this every year it's frustrating.

This is going to be an important moment as it could be the beginning of the end of the Poch era.

So basically, Martial is off the table, we're unlikely to get Zaha and we can't figure out how to strike a deal with a player overseas due to the agent being difficult...

Shambles.

Or it could be the beginning of the big time for Tottenham if Pochettino rates him that highly. Either way it comes with a big risk but at least we've got a couple/ few of weeks left.

Got an exciting end to it this window has all of a sudden

.

Issue is that "just spend the money and get the player" is what the teams around us do - Liverpool may have overspent on their players and Man City definitely have, but they've built the team their managers need to thrive.

We're asking the best manager we've had in decades to work with less than all the teams around us, yet somehow achieve greater results. It's madness.

Anyway, spending more to get the player would probably have saved us in the long run - our compromises probably stack up to cost more than just taking a whim. Imagine if we'd signed two hopeful punts for £20m a piece rather than Sanchez.

Ominous itk from Herc.

What I’d say is, don’t start sharpening your pitchforks just yet. Just because Herc/ his sources take is that Levy is playing the villain (see yesterdays ITK about not blaming Villa), it’s still a subjective thing and Herc is more than entitled to be subjective given his closeness to the club, but unless he has a direct line to Pochettino he isn’t going to be privy to old Maurice’s feelings on events.

As ever, pinches of salt for everything good and bad that we hear is the only policy we should follow.

Unfortunately, and I am a Levy fan, we know how this will pan out. We will not get the player Poch wants and ultimately the relationship will fall away. It's always the same story.

Anywho, thanks Herc for the update as always mate & lets hope for some good news within the next couple of weeks..........(although I am doubtful of any more signings other than Grealish....)

Thing is though, spending that bit more than Levy wants to to get the player Poch wants has a knock on effect.

It keeps the camp happy, it keeps the fans happy which keeps the revenue coming in.

Levy can’t afford this new stadium to be empty to he better start fucking backing Poch.

This does feel like the breaking point and we need to be brave, sounds like it’s the same old story and we’re too scared to take that leap that we’ve worked so hard to make viable.

I don't get why Levy would do this when he knows he's got a great manager. He obviously seems to have made some sort of promise to him and it doesn't seem like he's prepared to deliver on it. If you can't deliver on it, then don't promise it.

I wonder if Poch would have signed that contract if he knew how this was going to play out.

I think we are calling United's bluff with this Zaha stuff. Maybe we have said you can have Toby as long as we get Martial. Bit strange that they all of a sudden don't want to strengthen a rival after the Sanchez/Miki deal with Arsenal, Matic deal with Chelsea. Don't really rate Zaha as high as £70m especially as i've been given my liverpool supporting friend a bit of stick on the Alison purchase.

So far this window is leaving me scratching my head because everything seems to be pointing towards the time being now. The manager clearly believes the time is now, but it's hard to escape the impression that "now" may be slipping through our fingers.

Thanks for the info. The two main targets for this position sound like both very difficult deals to do for different reasons to be fair.

Whatever happened to our idea of having big signings to lead the grand opening of the stadium? Now I do believe why we had ITKs saying the announcement of Dele/Eriksen's contract extension will be "tactical" - to cushion the impact of a lackluster window. Disappointing, as always.
