We’re melting dowm because fucking Zaha’s unlikely. He’s not all he’s cracked up to be anyway. If we spend even £40m on him, ill be FUMING. Why? He’s not on our level and he’s in the position that Poch says he wants but will never fucking play. Save that money and put it towards something we actually need, a quality CM. If poch leaves over no zaha, then he doesnt want to be here anyway. So, good riddence. This is the one time ill back Levy here. Someone needs to save Poch from himself.

Can’t say that I’m a fan of Zaha but if he is who Pochettino wants, we need to make it happen. Liverpool have backed their manager big time, we need to do the same

Some of you are going to look foolish when our Dear Leader delivers Dybala & Pullisic next week :cautious:
Sometimes it is better to play the role of a fool ....

(i'd be bloody delighted if he did, obvs.)

Sounds very much like it’s shit or bust time. If Poch was given assurances, and they aren’t lived up to, then shits gonna hit the fan isn’t it.

No it’s because Martial and Zaha are unlikely whilst we can’t get a deal over the line for a young championship player.

It’s appearing to be the same story and our manager isn’t being given the players he wants, as always. This is despite being led to believe this summer was going to be different.

Starting the season on the back foot, again.

Get off your high horse.

The happy clappers condescendingly dismissing concerns are so irritating. Nobody wants us to spunk all our dough and become bankrupt - nobody is seriously talking about storming the new stadium armed with eggs and placards.

We are watching everybody else strengthen around us whilst we sit on our hands. This transfer window is clearly different to any of the other recent ones, if you can’t understand that - I genuinely don’t know how to help you. Pool and Arsenal (two clubs that finished close to us but below us) have strengthened and addressed their weaknesses. United finished above us and are a centre back short of being proper contenders - guess who will sell them a world class centre back in his prime to help ‘em out whilst being laughed out of the negotiating room for Martial?

We have a lot to be grateful for, but the concerns about the absolute lack of activity from the club are totally fair. The worry is that Poch isn’t being backed and will eventually walk away. If you’re not worried about that, you’re not paying attention.

If Poch has derived a shortlist of players and been given assurances that we will look to recruit then what do you propose will happen when this doesn't come to fruition and we are left repeatedly with Plan C,D,etc...?

We can debate the merits of say Zaha till we are blue in the face but if that's the player Poch deemed a necessary addition to the squad and the board doesn't deliver then he will rightly question his future at the club.

Can't keep continuing to make wine out of water without key personnel (Poch and senior players) getting fucked off and feeling their ambitions better served elsewhere.

Spurs run a very tight ship with regards to keeping deals quiet. Certainly, some things get leaked - usually agents / other club but think about some of the transfers we have completed in the past 4/5 years. Eriksen and Lamela were concluded very quickly in the eyes of the media but were worked on in great detail for months prior and, in Lamela's case, with extra secrecy (did the entire deal outside Rome to arouse attention). Son was agreed and completed from almost nowhere and, although less exciting, Stambouli and Chadli had no coverage 12 hours before. The Davinson Sanchez deal was negotiated and handled in an incredible professional and stealth manner.

Understandably, it appears that the window has been less productive than the club may have forecast but, it would be foolhardy to simply write off the prospects of a great return at this stage.

Problem is people can't detach the frustration, with wanting to be able to sign people like Zaha for stupid money. People's genuine and justified frustration is resulting in desperation to spend stupid money on players who'll bring little to the table.

Grim information... Or maybe not grim but the same thing we get most summers. With all the talk post season about investment and early transfers I got my hopes up. But that is my mistake, never get your hopes up.

That's not the point - fans perception of a transfer is largely irrelevant IF the manager has deemed it a priority signing which he seemingly has for the last how many transfer windows.

The manager has to be backed - if he's not then expect discontent.

People really need a reality check in this thread.
We have sold no one, meaning we are no weaker than last season.
Teams who finished below us have bought early as they are trying to play catch up on us, city have signed another winger because they can, man utd are trying to buy players to hold their position.
Just because liverpool have spent millions on players doesnt mean its going to work out for them. See us and the use of our bale money.

Our young squad is a year older, we will have kane back who missed a large part of last season, moura will hopefully be more up to speed, sanchez will be better after a season under his belt not to mention winks, lamella and rose coming back into the fold.

We will probably lose a couple of players and these are more than likely going to be replaced. If not, we have a very capable youth system to call upon, people are screaming for onomah, edwards and kwp to be given a go but also want to fill our squad with shiny new signings.....we cant do both without major sales.

If as ITK have said, we have 6 leave and 3 join, we will be very balanced and will go into the new sason with a strong squad. If we sell a couple and sign no one with only youth for back up, we will still go into the season with a very strong squad.

Maybe we should save our crying until after we see how our established squad does

We need more than a squad that is a year older to ensure we retain our position in the top 4 and win a trophy

Especially if all the clubs around us improve their squads

6 leaving and 3 joining will only be a good thing if they are the right players

Well said Herc ?

It Must be even more frustrating for you seeing this play out, being privy to your inside knowledge, than us looking in from afar.

I do hope Levy gets something done in the next few weeks as his reputation and negotiation tactics are seemingly not doing us many favours.

Martial was never going to happen and that is not Levy’s fault. United have stated time and again that they will not sell to a rival. Why would that suddenly change this summer? Anyone who actually thought there was snowballs chance in hell on that one was fooling themselves.

In reality, we have no idea what Poch wants or not. Are the paper rumours fuelled by genuine interest, or agents getting the deal their player wants with their current clubs etc.? We don't know.

I agree with the principle though, that if it's a player that Poch wants, get him and get behind him. Doesn't mean I won't be sick in my mouth if we sign Zaha for £70m, in the same way I did with Sissoko.
